Didn’t he actually say that he could win the 2024 election?
October 24, 2022 at 00:39 #1619865He absolutely did.
By the end of next year, he will be long past this enquiry and Sunak, despite calming the markets, could still be behind in the polls.
That could be his moment to pounce.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 24, 2022 at 00:47 #1619867If he had really wanted it he’d have come back on Friday. The fact he travelled economy told me he was scratching for votes.
October 24, 2022 at 01:06 #1619869Mogg and Zahawi went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
Mogg looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
“O lovely Boris! O Boris, my love,
What a beautiful second PM you might have been,
What a beautiful. second PM you might have been!”Zahawi … “I thought we were at sea Mogg we seem to be in rapids and what the hell is that big waterfall ?”
Mogg … ” Sorry you’re on your own with your millions – I’m jumping ship, or rather sliding off… SUNAK !!!
October 24, 2022 at 01:12 #1619871The head of the statistics watchdog told Boris off yesterday, after repeating the widely discredited claim that the UK will save 350-million pounds a week when it leaves the EU.
Sir David Norgrove says it’s a “clear misuse” of official figures.
However it worked !!!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 24, 2022 at 08:10 #1619886So presumably we’ll never find out whether or not he actually had 100+ supporters, how convenient.
The sycophancy is nauseating. Telling us about all of his ‘great achievements’ and how he made such a ‘difficult decision’. Pass the sick bucket. He resigned in disgrace a matter of months ago and has done nothing to show that he actually cares since. They haven’t even had the time to finish investing his wrongdoing yet. It’s a cultlike devotion, very strange. The party clearly hasn’t moved on from him.
We are told that the country doesn’t need an election becuase we can’t afford to waste time with everything going on. Err, the Tories dragged out a leadership contest for over six weeks, and their winner caused nothing but trouble in the following six weeks. I think we can cope with an election.
I would not be surprised to see a Sunak coronation today. If Mordaunt does get to 100, it will simply be a victory lap for Sunak, he’ll have such a lead that even the racist old loon wing of the membership won’t be able to stop him.
October 24, 2022 at 08:16 #1619887I’ve had a Damascian experience regarding all this.
I’d wanted Truss to win because I thought the carnage the next two years would be worth it if it ended in a Tory election wipe out by January 2025.
But tbh I hadn’t realised quite how awful it would be.
Johnson would be something similar – the markets spooked every time his backers claimed he had momentum.
I just want Sunak in asap, the Budget statement next week, it confirmed Hunt stays and stability.
1st November can’t come fast enough.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 24, 2022 at 08:27 #1619890The sad thing is we are in this mess thanks to a reckless, incompetent politician and her handful of backers (relative to the size of the overall electorate) in the Tory membership. Had they backed Sunak, we’d at least be in less of a mess. Bringing him in now will not undo the damage. A mortgage is by far most people’s biggest outgoing and it’s clear where the blame lies when they renew and it shoots up.
Sunak is clearly in the best interests of the country of the immediate choices, and I recall many of us said similar last time. How right we were.
October 24, 2022 at 11:58 #1619912The Torygraph is reporting that Team Mordaunt claim to have ninety nominations in the bag. Maybe it isn’t over yet?
October 24, 2022 at 14:05 #1619923Fishy Rishi confirmed.
Let’s see what he has to say when he speaks at half past two.
Chezza: time for a new thread? I suggest “Fishy Rishi 2022-2023”
October 24, 2022 at 17:16 #1619968This thread has now reached the Truss Station – please disembark.
Except gamble – I’d take a shade of odds on he will be resurrecting it sporadically for the rest of his natural.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 24, 2022 at 17:51 #1619986Why did Sunak eulogise about Truss in his very boring speech just now? Was he living on a different planet when she was PM? As for all that desk banging when the result was announced. Words fail me.
October 24, 2022 at 21:11 #1620021As for all that desk banging when the result was announced. Words fail me.
Yes I found that appalling too. See also the continued braying and boorishness at PMQs (from all sides of the house). If an OFSTED inspector came across a class of 11 years old behaving in that fashion the school would be rated “Inadequate” and put in Special Measures yet we’re supposed to a) tolerate this from grown adults b) believe that these are the best people to determine the future of the country. FFS.
October 25, 2022 at 10:10 #1620067I think parliament needs to be dragged into the modern ages. It’s become too much of a pantomime. Someone said it got worse when it was televised because politicians play to the gallery. I also think PM’s shouldn’t be allowed to hand out peerages (ie bribes) and an independent committee should decide. I’m not anti the HOL’s because, in recent times they’ve held the government to account. I used to dream of the day when I wouldn’t have to see Farage on tv all the time. Now it’s Johnson. I’m also wondering if having a Hindu PM will cause problems with the Asian population in light of the recent unprecedented problems in Leicester?
