The pilot show – “New Tory Leader” – was a success for her, so now our Liz gets her very own series under a two-year contract.
She got off to a flier in the first episode today – she commanded the rain to cease (it did) and then the allegedly “wooden speaker,” who even by her own admission isn’t great at tub-thumping speeches, made, by her (low) standards, a pretty assured one, I felt.
How she’s going simultaneously to cut taxes (mostly for the better off – you know, those who actually earn enough to pay taxes) fund energy bill aid and improve the NHS remains to be seen, but I for one cannot wait to find out.

Fair play to her. I have been in Manchester and the rain this morning looked like it was set in for the day. Long suffering fans of the Red Rose County know the signs all too well.
However, it miraculously cleared and there has been play in the Roses Match since 12.45pm.
I bet that would not have happened under Johnson, still less under Starmer!!
September 6, 2022 at 17:57 #1613572Given her mastery of water, we can have an episode where she goes down to the seaside and tries to turn back the tide.
After all, there’s a bit of the Cnut about her.
September 6, 2022 at 18:25 #1613581My one and only trip to Old Trafford cricket ground – ostensibly to see the Australian tour match – in the seventies with my Dad resulted in….no play all day due to rain.
Ditto the last time we went to cricket – England v Pakistan at Headingley in 1978 – meaning I never did see a Test match.
Im sure our Liz would have sorted both!

The honeymoon period is over. Sack her now!!
September 6, 2022 at 18:40 #1613586Labour would nationalise the weather thus ensuring fair distribution of sun and rain for all.
September 7, 2022 at 06:32 #1613624Our Liz has contrived to create an even more stellar Cabinet, packed with sheer talent, than her predecessor.
She is now poised to wipe the floor with that dreadfully dull lawyer at her first PMQs circa High Noon today.

September 7, 2022 at 07:23 #1613627I have every confidence in Our Liz to be marginally less excruciatingly boring than old lawyer face, Gladders!

Over 350 MPs and that’s the best they can do? Are any of them better than their predecessor? The Tories’ ability to constantly replace downright awful politicans with even worse ones knows no bounds.
September 7, 2022 at 08:37 #1613632Polly Toynbee’s verdict in “The Guardian” is “No Vision, No Charisma, No Real Plan”.
Is she writing about Truss or Starmer?
September 7, 2022 at 08:40 #1613633I’m at the hospital today so will probably miss PMQs.
Do you think it might be worth recording?
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysSeptember 7, 2022 at 08:53 #1613636I wonder how many seconds into PMQs will Truss make the point that she is the Conservative Party’s third female Prime Minister while Labour has never had a permanent female leader.
Any advance on 20 seconds?
September 7, 2022 at 09:00 #1613638She won’t have got through yet more fawning over Johnson in 20 seconds, I give her a minute.
Ongoing this will be even more boring that usual but the hilarious pre scripted banter that will have to shoehorned in regardless of what is said should be sufficiently cringeworthy to make it vaguely amusing.
September 7, 2022 at 10:50 #1613646Our Liz rightly having no truck with anyone who has trashed her the last two months.
That eliminates not only most Tory MPs, but nearly all the country, from serving in her government.
We’re not at home to Mr or Ms “Critical Faculties,” thank you!
