I know Bath can be a tricky track for punters – I’ve been known to have a losing day there myself – but this is not the answer.

Left it outside a wetherspoons unlocked against the railings on a Friday morning
the next Monday I walked past and it was still there
I decided to ride it home, stopped outside a shop to pick up a few things, was about 10 minutes tops
came outside and it was gone..

September 3, 2021 at 18:10 #1558952At the age of 17 I had a rather fine bicycle with a suede saddle.
I left it locked up in a bike shed in downtown Hull early one Saturday morning while I got on a coach to attend a political demonstration in London.
When I returned in the early hours of Sunday morning it had been stolen.
While I was trying to help the poor a few of them were proactively helping themselves – to my bike.
That taught me a life lesson and no mistake.

My youngest had a bike stolen years ago but luckily the local control room CCTV operatives saw it and the thieves did not get far.
September 3, 2021 at 18:46 #1558958I actually got my pushbike nicked outside my office about two years ago, it was on CCTV, but remains an unsolved crime.
However – the Police did attend my office to return the bike, found abandoned nearby – but it wasn’t mine! I said as much, to which my more cynical colleagues lambasted me for my honesty! Terrible bunch. To my mind it could have been some young lads and I would have been robbing his to replace mine!

September 5, 2021 at 11:29 #1559166I remember having my van stolen
woke up and remembered parking around the corner the night before. Van was not there so I thought perhaps I had parked it elsewhere but that horrible feeling in the stomach kicked in once I had done a lap of the block.
They found it but because I had a hidden immobiliser they had f**ked the engine or whatever when getting it started. Police said they think someone took it because it was hammering down with rain.
Worked out well in the end because I got a car instead after that and installed a roof rack the insurance was much cheaper with a car compared to the van.
Another time I had parked up and walked my lad to school. Said goodbye got back in my car, drove to the shop which was only around the corner. Got out the shop and instead going in my car I walked back to where I had parked when dropping Alex off to school. Of course the car wasn’t there but I started to panic thinking it had been stolen and was sh!tting myself for a couple of minutes before I remembered I had drove to the shop and not walked..
