Whatever became of this? Anyone from the BHA around to update?
September 22, 2010 at 21:41 #318799Aidan – press release from 3rd August (you may well be aware of this one). Presumably still waiting on a date being fixed.
DISCIPLINARY PANEL UPDATE – AIDAN O’BRIEN AND PAT KEATING
At today’s Disciplinary Panel hearing, Aidan O’Brien admitted a breach Rule (A)37 and (B)83, and Pat Keating admitted two breaches of (B)83, by refusing to comply with two instructions given by the Stewards at York. The first was an instruction that CAPE BLANCO (IRE) be trotted up before the BHA’s Veterinary Officer and the Senior Racecourse Veterinary Surgeon as part of their examination of the colt prior to the colt leaving York racecourse. The second was an instruction to attend a Stewards’ Enquiry into the refusal to allow CAPE BLANCO (IRE) to be trotted up before the BHA’s Veterinary Officer and the Racecourse Veterinary Surgeon.
Aidan O’Brien denied being breach of Rule (A)30.1 (acting in a manner prejudicial to the conduct and/or good reputation of horseracing in Great Britain). There were two parts to that charge – one in relation to his refusal to allow the horse to be examined and the other in relation to his instruction given to Pat Keating not to attend the Stewards’ Enquiry. The Panel heard legal submissions as to whether or not those (A)30.1 Charges were appropriate. Having concluded that the Panel should enquire into the first part of that Charge, in relation to his refusal to allow the CAPE BLANCO (IRE) to be examined, the Panel adjourned its consideration of that charge until a future date to be arranged.
September 23, 2010 at 12:04 #318878Yes I was aware of that thanks Cormack – just wondering has there been anything "rearranged" since then…nearly two months ago now at this stage? Cannot be that complicated..
September 27, 2010 at 20:40 #319759I see Silvoir has been looking in today….can he help with this? When is the decision likely to be made and why exactly has it taken so long for one to come?
September 27, 2010 at 21:10 #319763Aidan – hopefully hearing will recommence on 8/9 December. Struggled to get dates that all parties, and their witnesses, can attend.
September 28, 2010 at 17:58 #319897How about a video conference call? You know;modern stuff.
September 28, 2010 at 18:15 #319899Thanks for the update.

We have done that before, and offered it this time (as you rightly expected).

Stupidity rules the day on this one. There are times when one should bite the bullet and ignore certain rules and this was clearly one of them.
AOB clearly thought at the time. Trot him again? are you mad? I will my ass.
You would think the BHA have more to do with their time.

Better still, how about streaming the hearing on the web so anyone interested can watch, and see how our money is being used.
