Appreciate It really catching my eye for both The Celebration Chase (EW), and also Punchestown, but this looks a sensible option, and though the 66’s really appeals later on the card, the sensible head says the 12’s here is worth a small interest bet right now.

I nearly buckled and bet Jungle Boogie for The Punchestown Gold Cup last night, but held off, as I know de Bromhead often comes to this meeting. Not surprisingly, Jungle Boogie in there, but I’d have to pass at the 7-2. Huge player though.

The real eyecatcher though is my old pal Bachasson. No way I’d miss him, but the Select Hurdle maybe the more sensible option

    Appreciate It 12’s

It would definitely be Journey With Me for my vote, but I’ll not get involved unless I see him in the line up

I hope The Real Whacker wins and salvages something from a disappointing season.

Hitman the horse who is allergic to winning looks set to go off fav

Feel almost compelled to back the real whacker now

A repeat of his 2nd to capodanno giving weight will be enough to win this

    Hitman hates winning.
Easy game completely downed tools at Aintree.
Al dancer and GA law are handicappers, good ones admittedly. I could see the angle of dutching them and hoping the real whacker underperformed.
The other two have no chance on form.

    Talked myself into it now

    Real whacker 11/4 BOG

Ga Law for me. Not too impressed with the opposition here, he might improve a bit and these conditions should suit him perfectly.

    Ga Law 7/1

It has turned out a bit of a disappointing field with very the better horses out of form… Although possibly because they’ve run in top races.

The Real Whacker has run well in some races, just outclassed and ran better than a “pulled up” suggests in the Gold Cup. Still in front at the top of the hill. My slight concern would be whether he’d have enough speed at this trip on the ground on a flat(ish) track. Good he can make a test from the front though. Did have a hard race there. Jumps well when in front… Had a saver on him. However, he’s gone out whereas my main bets are now shorter, so if betting now The Real Whacker would be my main bet.

Easygame has gone from the front before and seemed to resent being dropped out the back against Jonbon at Aintree last time out. Connections have reached for the cheek pieces. Not certain to stay, so although I expect him to be ridden more prominently will not want to push TRW to go too fast. Has an action that should be suited by good ground. Aintree was so disappointing though.

Hitman has imo been crying out for blinkers (first time here). Gets there travelling well and hasn’t found much. The Denman form should be good enough to win here, was going better than Shishkin two out there. Not at his best in the Ryanair, but was against a lot better horses there. I’ve taken 3.95.

However, imo the best value is the 11 year old Al Dancer. The only one of the top four in the betting coming here “in form”. From a yard in brilliant form and his second under 12 stone (less 5 lb claim) isn’t that much behind the form of the others. That said, the brilliant claimer Dylan Johnston is not able to claim here. Taken an average of 9.98 on the machine.

Ga Law I don’t think jumps well enough in this company and needs the other four to disappoint to win here… Which taken individually is possible, but all four? Yet to prove he stays too.

Fantastic Lady and Straw Fan Jack don’t look good enough either and have little to no scope for improvement.

    My 100% Book:
    The Real Whacker 28% 5/2
    Hitman 28% 5/2
    Easy Game 15% 11/2
    Al Dancer 13% 13/2
    Ga Law 8% 11/1
    Fantastic Lady 5.75% 16/1
    Straw Fan Jack 2.25% 40/1

I did not notice Hitman is in blinkers. That makes him an interesting runner. It is often significant when Nicholls reaches for the headgear.

I have had to back him as well. Taken with the exchange price on The Real Whacker, it works out about Evens.

Straw Fan Jack for me. He is around 33-1 right now, but I’m confident that I can better that later on

Al Dancer at 8s WIN and Straw Fan Jack (despite being far worse at the weights) at 28s EW.
I think Al Dancer still has a bigger pot in him and I like his consistency.

A lovely ride and she really pinged the last two. Good race.

Oh boy, just couldn’t have the Henderson horse for various reasons.

Yes, it was a great ride and she was pretty much foot perfect.

Hitman might need his wind done again.
