“He also seems unwilling to recognise he is dealing with an audience of people who have a thorough understanding of racing and betting.”
On the contrary, which is why I am surprised that the feedback given by Nathan on his 16-1 bet on Desert Hero after the Gordon stakes when one of the markets was slower to react with the others going shorter has largely been ignored by a few of the ‘thoroughly understanding’ audience accusing me of untruths. It is demonstrating now and again that it can happen. It is not demonstrating that a particular person has lied.
October 4, 2023 at 13:05 #1665586But Mike – you are overlooking Nathan’s point about how 990 times out of a 1,000 (I would put it at 999) the “price” is in reality not available. You are trying to convince us that you are the punter who gets on in those situations, not just once but fairly regularly.
How likely to you think that is?

990 out of 1000 isn’t 1000 out of 1000. There is greater than a 0% probability that it can happen. And if I am regularly trying to get on at a bigger price that is ok, many do it. And if the price has gone after I have placed a bet that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. This kinda debate typically only crops up when one or a few don’t believe what I have said because a particular price i took is no longer there. There is nothing I can do about that.
October 4, 2023 at 14:46 #1665591“Eldar Eldarov 18-1 for the Leger and Auguste Rodin 18-1 for the Derby from me are two. Nuff respect to us both”
When at various stages you put up half the entries for every big race all year long at mythical prices just after they won a trial then claim to have cashed out if they get beat next time out I suspect you’ll find respect for the occasional winner is a bit thin on the ground.
I can’t speak for others, but there’s certainly none from me.
Not about ante-post betting anyway.
But, like others, I acknowledge you put up your share of on-the-day winners.
If anyone asked me about that alone, I’d say: “Mike? Fair judge, doesn’t half fall for and regurgitate a lot of trainer/jockey BS as if it’s gospel, but does find a fair few winners.”
But if anyone asked me about the ante-post nonsense, I’d say: “Not only lies, but lies like a ten-year-old caught with his entire head literally wedged into the now suddenly empty cookie jar. His cookie-crumb stained bare faced claims about not having eaten all the biscuits are an insult to: himself, the intelligence of his audience, and the whole art of telling porkies!”

Didn’t this thread used to be about the 2024 Oaks?
How dare you try to steer the conversation back to the topic it’s meant to be on.
This comment was made yesterday on page 3, since then the been at least 3 pages of Mike bashing.
Personally I think he does aftertime most of his comments, but either way I’m not particular bothered as Catherine Tate would say
What doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger.
October 7, 2023 at 14:05 #1665948I am somewhat surprised to see Opera Singer has been left in the Fillies’ Mile this coming Friday.
The 1,000 Guineas there is next spring – I do hope they’re not confused!

I won’t play yet but if shes the same price by the time the flat season kicks off I’d be tempted
Shes had a few excuses the last couple of runs but is breed to do better with age and distance. 10f possible ideal but couldn’t write off 12f especially at EpsomBlackbeard to conquer the World

April 2, 2024 at 09:23 #1688920I”ll also be keeping an eye on See The Fire Nathan but want to see how she fairs in the 1000 Guineas if she runs, I hope she does as I have 33/1 for her and Paddy Power now as low as 12/1 with the absence of Opera Singer.
Still early days yet and Ylang Ylang has to be respected, nice price Mike
Lots to look forward too.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 3, 2024 at 20:54 #1689013If it turns into a stamina test ylang-ylang must go close. If it dries up might be done by a speedier filly. Going will be vital but when is it not.

Over a mile and a half better ground wouldn’t concern me.
April 5, 2024 at 14:20 #1689089Indeed though aiden not convinced she will stay the oaks trip. Time will tell.
