    Hi all.

Here’s my list of novice chasers to follow for the up and coming jumps season.

    Please discuss.

    2m
FINIANS RAINBOW looks an Arkle winner to me, has speed, scope and he travels like a real good horse.
CELESTIAL HALO has solid Champion Hurdle form and should do pretty well at chasing.
MEDERMIT is a chasing sort and has smart hurdle form, the grey could be a smart chaser for Alan King.
If GET ME OUT OF HERE goes chasing he’ll be worth a look, I think he’ll have a big season as he’s improving rapidly.
If SPIRIT RIVER goes chasing, I’ll be keeping a close eye on him as I think he’ll have a massive season.
WALKON could be a forgotton horse, was injured last season and could be a one to follow.

    3m
TIME FOR RUPERT who was the only one to get close to Big Bucks in the World Hurdle at Fest 2010. He’s a proper chasing sort who’s dying for a fence, has bags of scope, a decent bit of toe and sticks his neck out when it matters. I assume he’ll be RSA bound and I think he’ll be a proper chaser who must be followed this season.
TELL MASSINI, he won a few hurdle races at Cheltz last season (one with a double penalty) and went off 11/4f in the Brit Hurdle. I really fancied him but he was pulled up and found to be lame and suffering from ulcers. He’s crying out for a fence and I think he’ll be a smashing chaser, with Cheltenham form in the bag, he will be worth a look
REVE DE SIVOLA looks a 3m novice chaser to follow, he’s got the scope, got the speed and the stamina to do well. He was 2nd to Peddlers Cross at Fest 2010 and then won at Punchestown Festival, he should take to fences with ease and will be one to watch.
JAMES DE VASSEY – this strapping 5 year old was 3rd in the Coral Cup and looks a novice chaser to follow. He may start off over 2m but I do think he’ll get 3m, a real nice sort who will probably end up in the RSA Chase and is one who will go well.
RESTLESS HARRY – fell at the last in the Brit Hurdle, he looks a chasing sort over 2m 5f and possibly 3m, a really nice type with a good attitude.

Rock Noir if he’s not been Jonjoed and Arvika Ligeonniere will be worth looking at over fences whilst one from across the channel could be Surfing if he transfers to Henderson as is the plan.

Loosen My Load, very much the same route as Sizing Europe to the Arkle.

Will be hard to bear imo over fences.

I was very impressed with his fencing debut as the Dessie Hughes mare tried to nick the race and built up a huge lead, not always easy to catch when races are run like that but he did.

Prince Oui Oui in staying novice chases, though likely he’ll only run over here if someone uk or Irish-based buys him. :(

Imagine the Papot’s wouldn’t mind selling him for a lump Grassy – he’s been beaten a few times by Bel La Vie this season so unless they think he’ll thrive over 3m there’ll be nothing for him in France :(

lovely horse and, imho the finest looking silks in all of racing  ( the owner must be a closet Airdrie fan) I can’t help but backing Ballyvesey, watching a Roddy Owen horse crossing the line first fills me with immense joy, must be because my footy team have been such a letdown lately :D

Golan Way had a nice pipe opener when making all over 2m5f at Ludlow yesterday. He was very clever at a few of them and attacked the fences when on a good stride, winning by almost 30 lengths on the bridle. He looked like he really enjoyed himself.

Master of the Hall from Henderson’s looks a good type for fences. I was going to have an ante-post dabble for the RSA chase but this new 2 1/2 mile novice at the festival is a potential spanner in the works. I imagine it will scupper a few ante-post bets as trainers hold off on deciding which race to target.

I agree with you Scottish Jamie about the 2 1/2 mile novice making ante post betting difficult. However I am so pleased that there is going to be such a race as the Sun Aliance has always seemingly taken its toll on many novices

Time for Rupert could make a nice chaser aslong as he takes to fences for me.

Peveril is a horse from Nicky Hendersons that im really keen on, won three hurdles at Leicester and Warwick (twice) last season and is a typial Trevor Hemmings type of horse.

I just watched Golan Way’s race and must say I wasn’t impressed. I never like novices who clattered their hurdles in any case but this one jumped right throughout, never really had a cut, just had class.

I think a more testing track and contested lead could find him out.

Being Jonjoed ain’t so bad

I’m with you on Rock Noir was but way too keen for his own good the other day. AP got good a hold of him but he never really settled and was a bit kamikaze going into his fences. Hopefully he’ll settle better now that’s out the way. The Jewson over 2m4f I would imagine will be his main target so I woudn’t be expecting too much too early.

Get Me Out Of Here must be in every note book in the country asa potenyial top class chaser.. If he takes to fences which was always the idea from the day he stepped into the yard he’ll win the Arkle IMO. Maybe even win the order of merit if he’s Jonjoe like Alberta’s Run was :P

Golan Way was impressive the other day I had a huge bet on him because he looks a very exitable horse and always looks fit as a fiddle. He should win again if his trainer finds the right race for him but after that he’ll be taken off my list. He lacks what it takes to reach the top IMO.

Muzzurka is a horse I like and her trainer reckons she may just miss out the hurdling game and go straight over fences with AP on board if possible. No doubt he wont rush her but she looks to have a big future in staying chases.

Stoney’s Teasure. I’m far from being Alan Kings biggest fan but this horse caught my attention at Lingfield last season as a potential star. He handles soft ground really well and although disappointing at Sandown he lloks more of a chaser than a hurdler. I expect he’ll go chasing so I’ll be keeping an eye out for him.

Time For Rupert is a must. I think he’ll make a top class chaser and the RSA could be his for the taking. Very consistant horse who once or twice found things happening a tad too quick for him over hurdles but he looks like a chase walks like a chaser and talks like a chaser. Just love this horse and he’ll be right at the top of my list.
