Same rules for everyone I guess. However, I’m quite sure he’ll find a way back in the next few days.
January 6, 2022 at 05:22 #1576690I’m not.
I get the impression the Australian population won’t moan about, but ultimately accept, “one rule for them, another rule for us” the way most British people seem to.
They do seem to be making an example of him but, if you’re outspoken in your anti-vaxx views, you draw attention to yourself and invite scrutiny in situations like this.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 6, 2022 at 08:38 #1576693We don’t know if he’s been vaccinated or not, but being very vocal against it I think he hasn’t. Djokovic plans to contest this decision with his lawyers but let’s see how successful he his.

But you can give them to the birds and bees.January 6, 2022 at 08:50 #1576694By the way, he’s in an isolation hotel while Australia decides if they sending him home, so the headlines to this topic is premature.

Appears that may be wrong given the struggles he’s having though.
Agree that the Aussies won’t just roll over and have their bellies tickled like we do here. Their customs will fine you for not declaring a half eaten banana.

And tbh I’m alright with that if it’s applied to everyone and we all know where we stand.
But in the UK how many times do you hear people – usually working class Tories, actually! – use the expression “the likes of us.”
Some people are born wanting to be down trodden – F that.

Whenever Ian hears anyone say “the likes of us” he always goes up to them and asks how they vote…
And scribbles the answer down in his note pad.
I’ve almost got as good an imagination as Ian.

You can be a real scream at timesJanuary 6, 2022 at 13:06 #1576735I was thinking of a couple of people in particular – and I know how they vote!
It was still a good line from GT, though.
Touché!
But no “scribbling” – all types in “notes” on my iPhone nowadays!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 6, 2022 at 13:54 #1576746I’ve disliked Djokovic ever since he applied a bit of gamesmanship* during a match with (I think) Murray. That was compounded when people caught covid after playing at some tournament last year: not sure if he organised the tournament or just gave a party. Either way he was responsible for people being ill.
*can anyone explain why the word gamesmanship is used when, imo it’s the complete opposite?January 6, 2022 at 14:22 #1576755Djokovic has used gamesmanship for years, as has Nadal. Both players used to take far longer than the 25 seconds allowed between points but no umpire had the guts to call them out. When the shot clock was introduced counting down from 25 as soon as a point finished, guess what? The two little prima donnas both speeded up. How extraordinary!
Djokovic is another one who has a habit of taking “medical” time outs – but only when he is losing and wants to break up his opponent’s momentum. He is not alone in doing that, to be fair.
He also did not behave very impressively when he swatted away a tennis ball which hit a ball boy in the face and he was rightly disqualified by the umpire. He bleated like a spoilt child before accepting what is a very clear rule.
I am not a fan. Oh dear, I suppose I am moaning again…
January 6, 2022 at 15:11 #1576762He did organise a tournament – “Adria Tour” 2020.
This ended-up being a PR disaster for him:
He is not a favourite of mine either with his behaviour.
Matron
January 6, 2022 at 17:44 #1576786Some Australian doctors do advise against the vaccine if you suffer from celiac disease so he might, annoyingly, have a case.
January 6, 2022 at 17:55 #1576791I hate him for a more basic reason: he’s got a s*** haircut.
Looks like his mum has done it; I last had my hair like that when I was twelve.
January 6, 2022 at 19:46 #1576817Medical exemption, I wonder if the BBC told him to try that old chestnut, well you see the BBC love Tennis stars as I think it’s the only live sporting event they cover.
Oh and some young British woman with what sounds like a Romanian surname, guided across the channel by the RNLI, another one from Macrons France won some dodgy award.January 7, 2022 at 08:05 #1576863There’s a very fine line between ‘gamesmanship’ and cheating. So fine in fact that I’m often unable to tell the difference.
