Although Ive been betting all my adult life Ive never really understood or enquired just how a non-runner affects your bet.
Yesterday ,lucky 15 ,two winners ,a loser and non-runner [Worcester].What/how do the main bookies add to the returns when a non runner is involved.cheers

With the singles you get your stake back with the non-runner and the winners win.
With the doubles obviously the two winners pay out. The winners with the loser lose. The winners with the NR you effectively get singles and the NR with the loser with be a refund stake.
With the trebles you will effectively get paid the double for the two winners plus the NR, all the others lose.
With the accumulator you lose

NR with a loser would be a losing double; otherwise correct.

Well done Rory – you spotted my deliberate mistake
Well it was late when I wrote the reply – that’s my excuse anyway
July 3, 2009 at 22:18 #237673So if you have a non runner in a lucky 15, and the other 3 are winners, you win your lucky 15 in all bets?
July 3, 2009 at 22:43 #237680So if you have a non runner in a lucky 15, and the other 3 are winners, you win your lucky 15 in all bets?
Non-runners are calculated (returned) with a basic factor of 1.00 + 1.00, so the answer is yes and no
So, three 2/1 winners and a non-runner would look like this:
(4x4x4x2) -1 *stake
*the 2 being the non-runner – Basic Factor 1.00 + 1.00
July 4, 2009 at 10:59 #237751sea pidgeon, I do find it strange that you have been betting all your adult life without knowing the rules applied to non-runners?
Most odd?

Obviously I knew the general rules that went along with non-runners,but yes I’ll admit that non-runners within multible bets e.g. yankees.lucky 15’s etc I was unsure just how the returns were calculated, and Im pretty sure that some of the punters on here were the same.
cheers

I’m not ashamed to admit I didn’t know how non-runners affect multiple bets.
July 4, 2009 at 14:11 #237775Also with a lucky 15 – "1 winner we treble the odds", this doesn’t apply if you have 1 winner and a NR. I always state on my slips "fav if NR". Works in your favour if your selection is a NR and the fav wins at about 2/1 or more
July 4, 2009 at 14:21 #237778Right, let’s have a poll then.
How many know how to settle multiple bets when there is a non-runner involved?…………….show of hands, please!

July 4, 2009 at 14:50 #237786Gents,
A further query related to this topic, if I may ……………Does the Place element in an E/W bet suffer the same deduction rate as the Win part if there is a withdrawn horse ( non-runner) in a race?
July 4, 2009 at 15:00 #237788IF there is a rule 4 it will effect the place return on a ew bet, as well as the win.
July 4, 2009 at 15:27 #237794Yes Chloed, but is the deduction at the same percentage as would be applied to the Win part?
E.G., say Rule4 dictates a 40 pence-in-the-pound deduction for a particular non-runner — then does the Place element of an E/W bet suffer that 40% deduction also (or is it less for the Place)?July 4, 2009 at 16:14 #237802Obviously I knew the general rules that went along with non-runners,but yes I’ll admit that non-runners within multible bets e.g. yankees.lucky 15’s etc I was unsure just how the returns were calculated, and Im pretty sure that some of the punters on here were the same.
