How diverse this sport we love so much is. I do believe we all get out of it what we want to put in to it and say again what I have said for years that it comes down to, each to their own. There is a place for us all within the sport and we all have our individual style and approach, just as long as we do not lose more than we can affored and enjoy it.
It has been a smashing weekend with plenty of input and suggestions and I would like to thank you all for some really good and worthwhile ideas which I am sure is based upon you own experiences. I do hope any members that may have taken the time time to read it have learned something and able as I have, taken a little from here and a bit from there to use or improve their betting.

April 19, 2010 at 18:08 #291199In the absence of Formcast Ratings for Sunday racing I checked Timeform Top Two Rated from the Oddschecker site against my selected races:
Handicaps of 10 or fewer runners.
Class 4 or better.
No other filters were applied.330 Stratford
Pickamus won 9/4
Baren de Doc345 Ascot
Fresh Air and Fun
Soulard won 2/1355 Wincanton
Sou’wester won 3/1
Bollitree Bob420 Ascot
Briery Fox won 11/4
KnowhereNo other bets
Yes, I know it’s only one isolated day’s racing but it may be of interest to those who prefer not to buy the Daily Mail or wish, like me on this occasion to have a small wager on a Sunday!
This concept from
elcartero
has certainly got the juices flowing but putting into practice is proving to be quite a different matter.
Looking at The Mail today I was unable to find a Formcast rating of 78 coupled with a single second rated 77 or do I need to go to "SpecSavers" for an eye test?
This situation I feel
elcartero
must have faced before and so I ask "Do you put this down as a blank betting day? as maybe there are many to come or is this going to be a frustrating and common sequence?"
I have just looked at Time Form which is proving just as awkward with many of the second rated 4* selections doubling up.
Have you
elcartero
any idea how two top rated from different sources would perform i.e. Formcast 78 coupled with say R.P.R or Massey should they differ?

Your eyes are OK, Billion….nothing clear cut; a blank betting day like many Mondays (and Tuesdays come to that..I seldom have a bet before Wednesday).I have just looked at Time Form which is proving just as awkward with many of the second rated 4* selections doubling up.
Timeform appear to prioritise the ratings in the summary below the racecard and taking the top two of the three seems to work for me. Having said that, performance was poor yesterday on the selected races.Have you elcartero any idea how two top rated from different sources would perform i.e. Formcast 78 coupled with say R.P.R or Massey should they differ?
Have checked results against RPR and Massey only sporadically and they don’t appear to offer any significant benefit but I would be delighted to be proved wrong.Powered by Linux

April 25, 2010 at 13:33 #292408Afternoon All
This thread has brought back memories of a system i used several years ago. I followed it for quite a long time and like all systems it had a wonderful purple patch for several weeks and then went t*ts up. I should really have persevered with it but gave up after 2 or 3 weeks of
poor results.Anyway to cut a long story short here is the system.
The system horse is one that is the Formcast dot horse and is also top rated by Adrian Massey.
I checked yesterdays results and naturally it had a
really good day.Halsion Chancer WON 8/1
Petit Robin 3RD 1/1
Paco Boy WON 11/10
Yossi 2ND 85/40
Rusty Red WON 11/8
King Fontaine WON 4/7
Maurisca WON 2/1
Diamond Blade LOST
Beat the Bell LOST
Exemplary WON 15/8
Green Moon WON 5/4
Tribal Myth 3RD 5/47 Winners from 12 selections
All the best

April 25, 2010 at 14:20 #292414Hey, thanks for that
Winnersforu
.
I had crossed referenced with RPR but not with Massey but certainly one to keep an eye on.
I am starting to wonder about ratings, do they do better on, a) better ground conditions. b) once the season has settled i.e. perhaps when top rated has had a run or two during current season.
