Lay of the day then
March 16, 2022 at 15:05 #1587629Wonder if Nicky will withdraw Shishkin now, due to the bad ground? 🤔
March 16, 2022 at 15:41 #1587662Probably wishes he had now!
March 16, 2022 at 17:05 #1587758I haven’t met the guy but he comes across as a decent
chap. If ever I were lucky enough to afford a horse in
training, he would be my choice.March 16, 2022 at 17:11 #1587762Yeah he seems nice chap and didn’t blame the CoC. Just a tad prone to the dramatics “These are EXTREME conditions”. You’d think it was the Somme. So, Shishkin starting next season’s campaign in the Hilly Way then, yeah?
March 16, 2022 at 18:00 #1587800Of course the horse hated the ground. NH came across very defensive of why Shiskin didn’t turn up today. Unfortunately he has to do this due to the amount of crap he receives on social media.
March 16, 2022 at 19:35 #1587835Henderson’s horse almost exclusively prefer decent ground. Good ground horses are at a huge disadvantage in NH racing these days. The decision to water on Tuesday night was insane given the forecast rain which duly arrived.
March 16, 2022 at 21:28 #1587887It seems unfashionable to say this on social media, but I like Nicky Henderson and I think his Seven Barrows operation remains a formidable one.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"March 17, 2022 at 05:47 #1587936Nicky is nearly in the same class as our Prime Minister……….for being a liar.
March 17, 2022 at 06:34 #1587940For such a bright bloke, its baffling how Henderson states “its all about one day in March” without considering the ground may go against him.
BUY THE SUN
March 17, 2022 at 10:01 #1587969This is what happens when everything is about one day in March; it will occasionally backfire. Which is why we have a season of races…..If they’re fit & well, run them; Cheltenham should be a bonus, not the only thing.
March 17, 2022 at 17:08 #1588259Who won the Clarence house at Ascot?? ^
People still bemoaning Nicky not running Shishkin in the Tingle Creek despite the horse having a poor scopeGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 17, 2022 at 18:02 #1588272Well said Nathan.
.
I have met Nicky on a couple of occasions (just briefly) and has always been a gent.
…And when I couldn’t make it to take part in the annual Oaksey House Racing Quiz it was Nicky who took my place at what would have been short notice.
Gets a lot of grief purely because he speaks to the press and gives his opinion more often than most trainers.
Get over it TRF.
Value Is EverythingMarch 17, 2022 at 18:52 #1588281That is some substitution

March 17, 2022 at 19:23 #1588291Whats the forums opinion on Mullins as Henderson appears to be treated unfairly.
Al Boum Photo – Runs in a pre Gold Cup training exercise at Tramore every year and anything after the Gold Cup is an afterthought.
Quevega – Mares hurdle without a prep 5 years on the trot
Appreciate It – Waited too long to get him started over fences bemoaning the quick ground then picked up a very slight niggle at Christmas. Decides to abandon his highly anticipated novice chasing campaign and then also turns down a couple of opportunities to get a run in over hurdles. Heads to the Champion Hurdle without a Prep.
Benie Des Dieux – Cheltenham without a prep in 2019 and only one run before in 2020Henderson will look after a horse, same as Willie will if they think they need it.
Don’t forget Henderson wasn’t afraid to run Sprinter Sacre, winning at Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown back to back in just 5 1/2 weeks. It took the great horse 2 1/2 years to recover from it.
March 17, 2022 at 19:34 #1588294Obviously those you mentioned mostly turned out pretty well GM
