Such an emotional moment for all concerned with Jaqulines Quest and have been robbed of such an emotional dream, this deserves to be brought up in the press tomorow and Newmarket should be run into the ground for their decision.
The moment JQ came into winners enclosure and kissed the owner on the cheek was so emotional, to rip that from the man what hes been through is a disgrace, a posh society who likes to rob the underdog.
This is my last, im leaving racing after this and won’t be back untill Newmarket apologise or JQ gives his deserving owner and trainer the G1 they deserve
May 2, 2010 at 14:56 #293565Mr Wilson I don’t think I’ve ever read so much complete and utter crap in all my life.
How dare you bring "racism" into this.
Truely pathetic!!!!

With respect I think that is a crazy thing to say…
The stewards Im sure based their decision on the race finish itself rather than some of the ridculous issues you mentioned…
It is obviously heart breaking to loose a race but I VERY VERY VERY much doubt issues such as race or background were in the stewards minds when deciding wether the interfearence was subtancial..
I personally think you should apologise for even mentioning this
May 2, 2010 at 15:01 #293571loads of emotion here ,and to a degree understandable , but the real injustice today is the pronounced track bias favouring the low numbered horses drawn on the stands side
why has this happened ??

May 2, 2010 at 15:04 #293575I don’t see any racism in Mr Wilson’s comments, unless they’ve been edited.
Though don’t agree with any of it.
How the rules are written, stewards had little option but to reverse placings.

Thats because his opening post has been edited. He called the Newmarket stewards racist for reversing the places.

Khalid Abdulla should consider giving N.Martin the prize money – I think even he would feel lucky to win that.
This would really turn a disaster into a romantic story
and on that note, im off
cant stand this sport any more, too top heavy

In that case it’s sheer stupidity from Mr Wilson.
And you’re quite right to point it out Ian.Value Is EverythingMay 2, 2010 at 15:12 #293588It isn’t the stewards concern that Channel 4 shoved a mic in front of Mr Martin for about 10mins and he became very emotional. I do think they made a cock-up in reversing the placings but the tv coverage/timing was just very unfortunate.
It’s hard to put firm blame on any party involved, it was just a very emotional, and surreal, bit of racing drama.
I think the suggestion that K Abdulla should donate the prize money to Mr Martin is one of most ridiculous things I’ve heard in a while.May 2, 2010 at 15:16 #293592Khalid Abdulla should consider giving N.Martin the prize money – I think even he would feel lucky to win that.

Why should the decision be effected by it being a "romantic story"?
Am sorry for connections, but if there is one man to "blame" it is Queally. Had he had the whip in the correct hand or changed it, there’d be no problem. Of course had he changed his hand, it may have been too late to use it again, and Special Duty would’ve passed the post in front.
I wish the two horses would’ve dead-heated without interferance, but you can’t just make up what happend and make the result what you like for sentiment’s sake.

The one constructive peice of criticism I would have for the racing authorities would be to perhaps look at informing owners /connections of a stewards enquiry privately before the race is announced to the general public. Not just for big races but for all races.
1) The stewards could declare result
2) Betting is then suspended on exhancges
3) Owners/Connetions are advised privately
4) Once owners are informed, announcement to public is made immediately.
I feel this way it would give connections time to take the decision before facing the media.
The fact that the stewards can declare the result prior to informing both owners and public would ensure in running betting is not comprimised.
With regard to Abdula giving prize money to 2nd connections – not a chance, this is sport, thee things happen in sport, its competitive, thats life.
May 2, 2010 at 15:20 #293598The stewards are to be congratulated on using their heads (which they should) and not their hearts (which they shouldn’t) and arriving at the correct decision, as the rules stand
Sympathies to the connections of the demoted but that as they say ‘is racing’ and to have allowed the positions to remain unaltered would have been a travesty for the French connections
Vent your spleen on Queally if you like, who for reasons best known to himself pulled his whip through into his left hand at the moment his mount started to drift right
Demoting one of Cecil’s in favour of a mere Frenchwoman’s…whatever next
A good day for the stewards and a good day for racing’s integrity

Excellant post Drone.
Value Is EverythingMay 2, 2010 at 15:24 #293603I only caught the ‘winning’ owner’s interview where he said something about issues with Channel 4. Can anyone explain what that was about as I don’t know anything about him.
May 2, 2010 at 15:25 #293604Personally I agreed with the stewards’ decision and had such an opinion as soon as I saw the head on.
Mr Martin’s story is quite incredible as described in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No%C3%ABl_Martin
Paralyzed after an attack by neo-Nazis in Germany, sought euthanasia after his wife died, won at Royal Ascot, participated in a film about his life but went to court to block Channel 4 showing two scenes in particular, and now experienced a disqualification in a Classic.
I wish him good luck with his life and 2nd in a Guineas is a blessing many would wish for.

Yes, I wondered that myself. "C4 tried to destroy me".
Huh??May 2, 2010 at 15:38 #293616Correct decision made by the stewards. I am not sure how wise it was to interview Noel Martin before the final result was announced, that was a major gaffe in my opinion.
I would also like to know how this sudden bias has appeared and whether it’s related to selected watering of the course!
