Truss ahead of Starmer, in new poll, as best PM.
Truss – no more lockdowns. That’ll do meAugust 1, 2022 at 21:52 #1609791There is some suggestion the polls giving Truss a massive lead over Sunak could be misleading and it’s now 1.14 Truss, 7.4 Sunak.

August 1, 2022 at 22:22 #1609795Interview with John Curtice on GB News, apparently.
Think he said polling Tory members is problematic, most voters canvassed so far have been in the south and a significant percentage have yet to make up their minds.

The Boris Johnson of analysts. Just makes it up as he goes along.
August 2, 2022 at 06:38 #1609809Maybe so, but it’s now 1.2 Truss, 5.8 Sunak – troubling times on The Truss Bus, renewed hope for the Sunak Kayak!

August 2, 2022 at 08:51 #1609813They really are coming up with some ludicrous policies. What’s this latest nonsense about guaranteeing people Oxbridge interviews for example? They just keep spouting rubbish day after day, half of it is being made up on the spot.
I will cut taxes, I will get rid of red tape. I wonder if ‘I will’ take responsibility when it all goes tits up?
August 2, 2022 at 10:47 #16098151.23 Truss, 5.2 Sunak.
Hilarious to see supposed moderates Mordaunt and Tungendhat backing Truss.
Market suggesting this isn’t over now.

“With ballot papers due to start arriving tomorrow, Truss is 1.1 and Sunak is 11.
1/10 and 10/1 in old money.
I personally can’t see a way back for Sunak now.”
In a matter of two days:
“1.23 Truss, 5.2 Sunak…
Market suggesting this isn’t over now.”
Moral of the story?

£2 @ 5.7 and same again at 5.1
on the more electable one.August 2, 2022 at 12:22 #1609828Sunak has narrowed the gap with Truss, who now only leads by five points in the latest poll of members.
This after a YouGov poll suggested a fortnight ago Truss had a 24-point lead.
The latest poll was conducted by Techne for a private client, but data tables have been released for the poll which was of 807 Conservative members.
The latest poll does includes significant positive numbers for Truss, suggesting her tax policies are far more popular than Sunak’s – though it was conducted before Sunak’s announcement of further tax cuts over the next parliament.
Truss was rated highly by 62% of members compared with Sunak’s 30%.
But Sunak maintained an edge over Truss on Brexit, trusted by 50% versus 41%.
Pollster John Curtice said today he did not believe the race was over. “We have to bear in mind that since Tory MPs decided this was the contest between Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss, we have had just one, I repeat one, opinion poll of the people who will actually have a vote, that is Conservative members. And that poll is now nearly a fortnight old,” he said on GB News.
Another poll in the Sunday Telegraph of Conservative councillors also suggested the race was tightening, with Truss on 31%, Sunak 29%, and more than 30% saying they did not know.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"August 2, 2022 at 12:23 #1609829In my view, the free and democratic world is paying close attention to this leadership race and hoping that the new leader has the leadership qualities, the “resolve” if you will, to deal with the evil that has been unleashed in Europe and one that is lurking in the Asia-Pacific region.
The free and democratic world has always looked up to British leadership, such as Churchill during WWII, to lead them out of darkest times and also like M. Thatcher, who along with Ronald Reagan, brought down the “Iron Curtain”.
Which of the two current hopefuls has such qualities? Or, when evil looks them in the eye, will they cower and put their tail between their legs and run for the highest ground?
August 2, 2022 at 12:35 #1609833I don’t think Liz has got a tail ?
August 2, 2022 at 12:38 #1609835With all due respect to the “free and democratic world” I reckon all your average Brit cares about right now is which one will put a few quid in their pocket to help them get through the winter.
The wider world might be holding out for a Churchill, but British concerns are somewhat closer to home, though foreign and domestic policy are of course linked.
