Well done Bobby you were all over him for this for about a year and a bit :good: He cruised through it.

Was Braeside ok? My picture wasn’t very good.

Got a run for my money with Beatthebullet, he didn’t disgrace himself at all and jumped very well.

Wd winners. More of a pace test than a stamina test i thought and the quicker horse won.

Good to see this race getting a bit of criticism. Kevin Blake says it is a case of thanks for the memories but it is superfluous in its new format. Even Nick Luck stepped away from his usual blandness and described it as a “yawn”.

This year’s renewal was dire. I do not see how anyone could get excited about it. The best of them should have been in the Brown Advisory and the worst should either have been in the Ultima or not at Cheltenham at all.

The race does not work since the knee jerk reaction to reduce the distance. It should either be restored to what it was or discontinued.

I see no reason why this shouldn’t have worked except that most top British yards don’t have any decent staying prospects. The reduction in distance is marginal. Had it been run on the Wednesday it would have seemed plenty far enough. I was impressed with Stattler, even Patrick Mullins had him jumping well.
