Hi All
My 12 against the field are as below, with Betfair prices in () :
Scartna Aglish : Exciting pup with L Jones who will improve with every run. (85)
Indian Ruler : Top class irish dog trained by G Holian, needs to improve on his trial, but is tough and consistent. (34)
Pennys Worth : Useful pup with R Baker, has early pace and is a very tight railer. (38)
Droopys Scholes : Irish dog with a grand pedigree, is very tough but needs to trap. (14)
Big Freeze : Did a super trial and could surprise a few, Clemenson thinks the world of him. (80)
Black Pear : Deserves a change of luck and will hopefully get it in this comp. (140)
Premier Fantasy : Talking dog from Ireland, must surely be the best to come over for some time, needs only a bit of luck to take the crown (6)
Drop Goal Jonny : An able deputy for Shearer and Soppitt thinks he will at least reach the final, still unexposed and improving. (42)
Fire Height Dan : Will bulldoze his way to the final, is a massive dog with a growing reputation. (19)
Pitch Rocket : Suited by the track and can go a long way for W Davies. (430)
Solid Money : Strong wide runner for D Knight and has posted some good trial times of late.(38)
Urban Spaceman : My outside bet to go a long way, if hitting the lids will upset a few fancied runners. (1000)
So there you have it, the dreaded kiss of death, hopefully we will have a couple though to the final after 4 weeks of superb racing. First heats are on Thursday and the final on 5th June.
Best of luck to all and hopefully they will all return safe and sound.

May 23, 2004 at 20:01 #88882Well done with Urban Spaceman, that has obviously surpassed most peoples expectations. I know very little/nothing about greyhounds but I am keeping an eye on the Derby. Seagull’s post in "Titanics"regarding Fire Height Dan is worth reading…

May 30, 2004 at 02:03 #88884Hi All
Should be one of the years happy days, it’s my birthday, but here I am sat at work until 7am. Was really looking forward to a pint for breakfast and watching last night’s semi finals, but the sad news of Premier Fantasy’s broken hock has sickened me to the pit of my guts. Really top class dog, never to race again is just s**t
e. The dog excited everyone in the sport and it doesn’t matter if he was to become a superstar or not, we will never know. Just over 2 years of age and finished gracing the track is an utter shame, I only hope they can save him for stud. Anyway the video is going in the bin as I could not watch it after reading some of the reports on the incident, going to have a couple of swift Southern Comforts and retire to bed. At this stage I am not really interested in what I have left so no new prices, but the final qualifiers are:Droopys Scholes : Irish dog with a grand pedigree, is very tough but needs to trap. (14) (6) (5) (4) (6)
Big Freeze : Did a super trial and could surprise a few, Clemenson thinks the world of him. (80) (55) (27) (24) (22)
Fire Height Dan : Will bulldoze his way to the final, is a massive dog with a growing reputation. (19) (22) (38) (21) (8)
Please, please may they all return safe and sound !!!!!!
Regards
Trevor
June 4, 2004 at 20:38 #88885Hi All
At work all day tomorrow so will put my thought’s on the cracking card at Wimbledon tomorrow night online now. The final is a cracker and all 6 dogs have a chance, it’s all if’s and but’s at the moment so here goes for a final run down.
Fire Height Dan – has his trap and needs to lead, which is possible on his best trapping, but he has the dreaded 1 box so I will overlook him tonight
Ballymac Kewell – is the most improved dog in the final and he whizzed out of trap 2 in the 1/4 final, I think he will follow TC around the first 2 bends and strike for home at the 3rd.
Droopys Scholes – has not been 100% fit in the comp so far so that shows what a class dog he is, the weeks rest will have done him good and his trainer reckons he will be 95% fit for this but I dont think he will get a run.
Rhincrew Seagal – the fastest dog in the final but will be struggling to get a run behind TC and I think he will have lost the race by the 2nd bend
Big Freeze – will be last away and with early trouble he will benefit the most, will be running on but just too late for me.
Tims Crow – sure to lead to the 3rd or even 4th bend and may even hold on, he will be very very hard to catch if clearing the first 2 bends without trouble.
Summary – Ballymac Kewell to just outstay Tims Crow in what will be a super final.
Well done to all the finalists and I hope they all return safely.
Rest of the card, selections only:
6.50 trap 1
7.08 trap 2
7.26 trap 1
7.45 trap 1
8.05 trap 4
8.25 trap 5
8.45 trap 1
9.05 trap 6
9.25 trap 6
9.45 trap 4
10.35 trap 2
10,55 trap 5
11.15 trap 3
A grand night’s viewing live on Sky, enjoy and best of luck

June 6, 2004 at 08:25 #88886Hi Guys
After a super final, we have a result for the derby dozen, all in all a superb competition with the exception of Premier Fantasy who crashed out when looking all over the champion, at least he is on the road to recovery and a nice career at stud (lucky bugger)
FIRST @ 7/2
Droopys Scholes : Irish dog with a grand pedigree, is very tough but needs to trap. (14) (6) (5) (4) (6)
SECOND @ 10/1
Big Freeze : Did a super trial and could surprise a few, Clemenson thinks the world of him. (80) (55) (27) (24) (22)
SIXTH @ 6/1
Fire Height Dan : Will bulldoze his way to the final, is a massive dog with a growing reputation. (19) (22) (38) (21) (8)
Now it’s heads down and bottoms up for the Irish equivalent.
Best regards
Trevor
June 6, 2004 at 11:59 #88887Great stuff Trevor – I look forward to the next thread.
Best dog won on the night.
One thing that struck me last night was that it was the worst Derby roar I’ve heard since I’ve been going. Maybe a hangover from Premier Fantasy.
