Classy Sea the Stars colt wins easily in US turf debut. Looks like he enjoys the firmer American turf, look for a step up in class off this race.

Munjaz was my big odds long term Derby horse this season. He started off well enough this year winning a maiden that threw up several winners.

Sadly he ran in the Lingfield Derby Trial and was disappointing. I never found out if something was amiss that day and we never saw him in the UK afterwards. His maiden win saw 8 others among the 13 runner field win races later.

Although Munjaz was highly unlikely to have proven good enough for Group 1 level, I felt he might reach Group 3 company and about this time last year Paul Hanagan nominated him as his horse to look out for in 2014, expecting big improvement on what he had then achieved.

Bearing in mind Taghrooda’s exploits, the jockey’s nomination was quite an indication of Munjaz’s potential.

I’ll be interested in how he progresses in his new location.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
