We may have seen a very useful staying performance from Mubaraza at Newmarket on Saturday.

The horse was giving a lot of weight all round to the majority of his rivals and made strong progress throughout the race relishing the conditions.

He had previously been ridden closer to the pace in all of his starts this year which looked to have been fitness exercises for what seems quite a gross horse who needs a run of races to get going.

There’s no doubt he’s seriously well handicapped with a long future in the sport at staying distances and he wouldn’t be one to give up on if things do go pear shaped.

The form should work out well as the time was strong with the absence of any tactical biases there could be many in behind that may progress past their marks in the near future.
