    She was just hypothetical.

Just over half the people at work are Polish, and they tend to be polite, honest, ethical people.

Okay, I’ve just done the dirty deed. I’ve paid one week’s deposit (£70), plus this month’s rent (£300). I think it is probably a 1960s-70s 3 bedroom council-build in South Ashford, about a 15 minute walk from work, and a 30 minute walk from the Town Centre.

Apparently there is wireless connectiion to the Internet, but I’ll find out about that early next week.

I’ve got a large room with a double bed. I’ll sleep there for the first time on Saturday, so that I can start work at 6am on Sunday.

I feel guilty, and am putting off until tomorrow afternoon telling the pub landlord that I am moving out. I also paid a deposit when I moved in 2.5 years ago, but I feel embarrassed to ask for it back.

There is a smaller room still going free in the house, so there is still hope for a Polish nymphomaniac housemate.

Am currently paying £50 a week rent, so my rent will go up by £20 per week.
I will save £37 a week in travel.
I earnt £10,524 in 2008-09 so apparently my Working Tax Credit will get cut from £49 pw to less than £20 per week.
So in total I will be about £13 per week worse off. On the other hand, I can now work an extra 2.5 hours overtime on Sundays (plus the other Sundays I miss because of engineering works), which will cover that £13.

I’m now off to buy some containers to pack my junk in.

I’ll PM Cormack to change my profile on Monday.

Gerald twice a year you can take one stop northbound on the train out of Ashford international and have a day’s racing at the lovely Charing point to point. In fact mate, if you can get access to a car, then you can do Charing on Easter Saturday and Aldington on Easter Monday as I did this year. Keep an eye open for next seasons fixture list.

Actually bbobbell, I had thought to going to Charing on Easter Saturday, but had a laugh at myself and told me to get a grip of myself. (It was also the time of my recent ‘ailment’.)

Actually, I went for a drink in my new local last night (1 minute from work). It is run by Shepherd Neame, who sponsor P-t-P in Kent. On the counter was a box of leaflets about P-t-P and Pony Racing in Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

I see that on Thursday 14th May is the Grant’s Cherry Brandy Final at Folkestone. I presume this is a Hunter Chase meeting.

Also, South East P-t-P Supporter Club. Enquire from the Champagne Marquee at each meeting or from Nick Bowman on 01892 823092.

Yep, that’s Folkestone’s United Hunts meeting **, on which the Grants Cherry Brandy is a maiden hunter chase open to horses that have run in qualifying Open Maidens during the current pointing season.

As chance would have it I was talking this afternoon to owner Bernard Pike, whose Who Else Knew looked all over the winner of this race in 2006 before – by Pike’s admission as much as mine – dogging it furiously up the run-in.

Said gelding behaves himself far better nowadays, though, and he’ll be trying to win a second hunter chase this season at Wincanton on Thursday. Can’t see him quite obliging if Turthen turns out as expected, though.

(** the only meeting I’ve ever attended at the Kent venue, it will surprise few to learn…)
