I have not seen it but it must have been a very bad fall. I hope he is OK.
February 6, 2025 at 18:15 #1719886I see RTV aren’t offering the race replay, while Sporting Life zoom away from the incident at the last.
Two of the leaders fell, and brought down two immediately behind them. Another horse, further back, also fell. The falls were independent and O’Sullivan was obviously injured directly by his fall or was caught up in the ensuing melee.
My thoughts are with the rider and his family.
February 6, 2025 at 19:32 #1719889Sounds like an horrendous incident, thoughts and prayers with him and his family and friends.
February 6, 2025 at 20:00 #1719890I haven’t seen it either, just hoping for a full recovery. My thoughts are also with him and his family.
Missing Cheltenham becomes completely irrelevant right now.February 6, 2025 at 20:08 #1719892The latest update seems to confirm he is in a critical condition. Fingers crossed he pulls through.
February 6, 2025 at 20:10 #1719894Echoing the thoughts above – it sounds like an extremely serious incident.

February 6, 2025 at 21:31 #1719901It was indeed a horrible fall. He was ejected from the saddle and landed head/neck first into the turf and then, to compound that, his mount crashed down on top of him.
Let’s hope he is not left with any lasting injuries, but it didn’t look good.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
February 11, 2025 at 12:24 #1720337Remains in intensive care according to the RP. All the best wishes and hopefully he’ll recover somehow.
February 15, 2025 at 12:49 #1720634IHRB reporting today there is no change in his condition and he remains in intensive care. Poor lad. All my best wishes to him and his family, but this really isn’t sounding good.
February 15, 2025 at 13:42 #1720642Echoing all the best wishes previously posted 1000% – the fact that they only refer to it as his ‘condition’ makes me think this is sadly going to be a monumentally life changing incident………..but I am desperately hoping to be proven so utterly wrong in my thinking.
February 15, 2025 at 14:15 #1720650I saw a RIP Michael O’Sullivan thread on the BF forum and feared the worst. How disgusting…..
Have to agree with LD thinking about a life changing incident. Hope to be wrong, though.February 15, 2025 at 14:32 #1720654Very very worrying that he’s still the same after more than a week. Thoughts to the family and like the rest of you hoping my fears prove unfounded.
February 15, 2025 at 18:10 #1720685Haven’t really got the words at times like this.
Hoping for the best for Michael.Value Is EverythingFebruary 16, 2025 at 08:25 #1720707Cheltenham Festival-winning jockey Michael O’Sullivan has tragically died as a result of the head injuries he sustained in a last-fence fall at Thurles on February 8.
His death in the early hours on Sunday came just five days shy of his 25th birthday next Friday.
RIP
February 16, 2025 at 08:27 #1720708Heartbreaking news.
RIP MichaelFebruary 16, 2025 at 08:29 #1720709The news we were dreading. Thinking of his devastated family.
February 16, 2025 at 08:30 #1720710Such an awful tragedy.
