    Hello to all

Both good news and bad news for Nicky Henderson stable.

Sadly Buzz has suffered a serious injury this morning.

    https://www.attheraces.com/news/2021/December/17/leading-stayers’-hurdle-hope-buzz-suffers-‘pretty-severe’-injury-setback

However Jonbon wins in good style at Ascot this afternoon and looks to be the best hope of the novice hurdlers trained on this side of the Irish Sea for the Cheltenham Festival. I do have him in my Free Stable in the Tote
    Competition.

The other good news is that Godolphin are going to run another Fantasy Stable in the New Year.

All the best to everyone for Christmas and the New Year. :good:

Yes John read the news about Buzz earlier this evening, couldn’t believe it was so looking forward to seeing him again and he is in my TRF Ten To Follow team so I guess he’s out now for the season..just glad that it wasn’t worse and that he makes a full recovery
Sad news, however, about Silver Streak 💔

Glad Jonbon was victorious today for you John, nice one to have in your TTF free stable.
Enjoy your Christmas and reading your Godolphin Brochure should give you a nice heads up on the Fantasy competition starting soon. :rose: Jac

Such sad news about Silver Streak – what a lovely horse, such a sad loss. :-( Very sad news about Buzz too – hopefully he’ll be okay.

Jonbon looked good and I was impressed with Henri The Second as well. A lovely horse.

Lots of good racing on Saturday. I like a little E/Way on Llandinabo Lad in the 3:35 Ascot. I also think that Ronald Pump can go well in the Long Walk & Paisley Park too!

Good Luck with all your bets!

Heartbroken Andre he was a stunning looking horse and so talented. I still can’t believe he’s gone.

Would love to see dear Paisley Park win the Long Walk now for his doting owner Andrew Gemmel.
Best of luck with Llandinabo Lad at Ascot later today.

I’m struggling at the moment to get my horses together so best sleep on it and look with fresh eyes in the morning :bye: Jac

Dreadful news about Silver Streak, I won (and lost) a good few quid on him but
he looked superb, Very sad  Shame about Buzz too he looked like he was
going to have a good season, he’s in a lot of stables in TTF and TTTF. I hope
    he recovers well.

I had Potters Legend 7/2, my reserve in Pick3 and Champ in both competitions,
but the rest have gone downhill. My last chance is Tritonic who’s about to run.

    Good luck all :good:

I did indeed Andre, got him at 9/1 and Champ, in the Ante Post Forum, at 6/1. With
Potters Legend earlier at 7/2, my reserve, It turned out a damned good day :good:

Well done with Tritonic and Champ Graham :good: and you would have been top scorer in this weeks 4PP if a certain someone hadn’t Napped Kodias Sangarius 17/2 in the 5.30 Wolverhampton and also picked Miscall (Hollie Doyle) in the same race 3rd at 40/1 earning me a wacking 60 points for 1 race …never done that before. Along with that I was just a short head away from getting the forecast twice..goodness knows what that would have paid. I can only dream.

It has been such a hit and miss start to the NH Season and I have been unlucky with my picks i.e. Shan Blue a and Buzz both looking to have serious credentials for Cheltenham.
However, with the sad loss of Silver Streak it makes you realise how lucky we are to have these brave warriors still with us to fight another day, they are such fragile animals and as we know not all accidents happen on the racecourse.

Along with Andre hoping to see the likes of Minella Indo battling out the King George on Boxing Day and then Honeysuckle and lots of others possibly out before and on Years Day..keep them all safe and well. :rose: Jac

I’m just happy to have got some decent points in the 4PP competition Jac.
I’m delighted to see you head the weeks tally in the comp, some great choices
by the Maydan Thursdays gang :good:

Looking forward to the new Godolphin competition, I got an email saying it
will be out soon. Some good jumps racing ahead, I’ve got Chantry House and
Royale Pagaille in My TTF and TTTF. I do fancy CH for the King George on
Boxing Day and had a fair punt on him.

Good luck all, and have a happy and very safe Christmas :good:

It’s been rocky ride throughout the year but once again we have helped each other through and look forward to doing it all again in the new year..keep safe and thank you for all your support through the year.. Jac x :rose:

And a Happy Christmas to you too Jac. Sadly we never got to Kelso because we were caught up in Storm Arwen and lost part of the roof. And a tree came down in the garden of a house where Mike used to have a flat and they found a skeleton underneath it! We’re just staying on our own at Christmas yet again but this time back home near to the family. It freaked me out my SIL having covid in America and being so far away from home but he’s back and ok now. Let’s hope for a better year and that racing won’t be cancelled. Seems like such a long time ago that I spent all of Christmas Day worrying about Dessie running on Boxing Day! I would shut myself away with a telly, some baccy and a bottle of advocaat so I could watch him without the family distracting me. And this was at my sister in laws. What a dreadful house guest I was.

Thank you Moe, I guess this time last year we never dreamed, that one year on, we would be in the midst of yet another variant and having to be careful once more to protect family and friends, but if that is what it takes to beat this awful thing then so be it. Like you we will have a fairly quiet Christmas We have close family round on Christmas Day and they will all do the lateral flow before coming. I am looking forward to it as last year all the present opening was done via Zoom. guess we were lucky to have that but nothing like sitting there with a (big) glass of mulled wine watching them open their presents.

Your skeleton story sent a shiver down my spine, how spooky is that, did you have to report it and did the police come to investigate? You hear of people disappearing off the face of the earth and then a tree blows down and …
well it seems like a story from Silent Witness.

All good wishes to your SIL Moe a terrible shock and I know you have been talking to Graham about it who had the same thing with his DIL and previously his son in the early days before vaccination which was a terrible worry.

Boxing Day in the Dessie era was the same for me Moe, I just felt sick all day and at that time my Mum and Dad in Law used to come over on that day. They were in no way racing fans and couldn’t understand the fumbling mess I was in as he cleared each fence. We could never eat until the race was over and she was a woman who liked to eat lunch at 1.00pm every day…afraid I was a great disappointment to her.. ;-)

Stay safe Moe and grab that big bottle of advocaat and your baccy and have a more relaxing time watching my favourite Rom/Com Last Christmas which I believe is airing on BBC2 Thursday at 9.00pm. :rose: Jac

Moe what a story.Just in time for Xmas.
I guess the person in the garden will have their voice heard at last.
Best wishes as always to all of you who contribute to this thread. Not a bad bone in any of you.
Thank you big G, Trip, Euro. et al.
You have proved you don’t have to be rude or nasty to get a point across.
When the time came you kicked ass too, big time.

Your racing knowledge is unquestionable and very useful, but it goes hand in hand with your humanity.
I hope you get to Chelmsford Triptych next year. It will be a different experience to the July course though.
I very much hope to get back to a racecourse or two next year maybe even in Ireland.
I’m reigning things in a bit from now because less is most certainly more.
    All the best.

What a lovely message to all of us Sam thank you 🌈 and Moe’s already given us the ultimate Christmas Ghost Story I’m intrigued to know more.

Sam your contribution to this Thread and your own has been inspiring this year not only with the amount of winners you found but teaching me to look a little further into those horses who turn in a decent run while not quite getting in the frame it paid dividends with our Hollie Doyle at Wolverhamoton Saturday night on 40/1 Miscall 3rd beaten by a head, luckily I backed the winner but she was the value in that race.

Not sure about Chelmsford on 6th January but, Omicron permitting, hoping to be there just to be leaning over the parade ring getting close up to the horses.really missing them. I hope you get back to the racecourse Sam especially in Ireland, my Grandad lived close to The Curragh and proud to say that beautiful country is in my blood.

Hope you’ll continue to visit MT even though you are applying the brakes a little and we always have a bit of speculative fun when racing kicks off at Meydan soon so hope to see you there.

All good wishes Sam for a successful 2022. :good: Jac :rose: x

Oh, the wonderful years when we used to go to Ireland for Punchestown. Including visits to The Curragh and the National Stud. Sadly, the friend we used to visit in the west coast died last year: I still can’t believe she’s no longer with us. There’s a lady we meet on the beach when we’re up north who both looks and sounds like her which doesn’t freak me out but comforts me. I reckon Mary sent her to me! Going back to the skeleton, the gardener’s great (great) grandmother had a daughter disappear without trace in the 1800’s……but it is close to the church and, of course, not all bodies were allowed to be buried in consecrated ground. And there were many battles. Adam’s Spiders Bite is running today. Not sure why they don’t give up on him but they are trying new head gear. Being a Scorpion perhaps a new head is required! Either way, he’s enjoying his training on the beach. They filmed dolphins breaching out to sea the other day. The dolphins make a point of only appearing when I’m not there.

That’s very gracious of you Sam, I can return the compliment when you made
me a good few quid with your Willie Mulllins thread when you clocked he was
sending Burning Victory over to France on a very good mark. There’s no
doubting your knowledge and enthusiasm for the game :good:

Moe it’s been a delight to see you posting in here, and it’s good to know
there’s someone sitting up to 4am with me at Melbourne Cup time. I love the
thought of looking into the skeleton under the tree case, that’s right up my
street, I’ve got my notebook at the ready :mail:

A very merry and safe Christmas to you both :good:

These posts are why this thread is the best! Good friends sharing stories, it’s more than just the racing, although the love of the sport is the common thread between us all.

Thank you Sam for your kind words, this is such a good group.

Fascinating story about the skeleton Moe. I wonder if they will ever figure out who it really was. Please keep us updated.

Such good memories of Dessie Jac. I do love hearing those stories! Here’s a trip down memory lane for you

Hopefully we’ll see some of our TTF horses over the Christmas/New Year period. I’m anxious to see them run and score a few points in the comp  hopefully!

Just a small family gathering, Omicron permitting, for us on boxing day. Everyone is vaccinated and boosted, so fingers crossed.

I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, stay safe in these crazy times and may 2022 be a good year for all of you.
