I’m just confused that the story about Master Minded on the Racing Post site is timed at 6.36pm, but it didn’t seem to be released until after 10 (my guesstimate). Stories are in chronological order, yet this one is after ones timed at 6.47pm and 7.46pm.
November 24, 2009 at 07:47 #260245Gerald,
It may be nothing more sinister than a transmission error where, for some reason, there was a technical delay in report hitting the web site.
I had a similar problem myself last Friday. I was doing live updates from Ascot – happily sending live reports to my web site. It was only when I went to check something after the second race I discovered not a single update had appeared. Once I pressed the correct button all the updates appeared in the "correct" chronological order.
November 24, 2009 at 09:50 #260254Story hasn’t even broke on the Sporting Life website yet

Clearly something wrong with the horse though when the admirable but not in the same league Mahogany Blaze finishes in front of him
November 24, 2009 at 14:44 #260296Yes it might be something like that Paul, but I think maybe a bit of Glenn is rubbing off on me, and I start to see conspiracy everywhere. It just got me thinking about all the people who have inside information, or anyrate first information, about horses being withdrawn, not just attached to stables, but also news outlets and whether people are allowed to avail themselves of the opportunity of laying, or perhaps backing other entrants. It might just be that the people at the Post wanted to verify the story, or that they wanted to delay it a few hours so that the newspaper had an exclusive that the other newspapers didn’t have.

A stress-fracture of the tenth rib apparently.
From the Racing Post:
Dual Champion Chase winner Master Minded has suffered a stress fracture of the tenth rib, champion trainer Paul Nicholls revealed to the RacingPost on Friday night.
However, Nicholls expressed his delight and relief at the discovery of what appeared to be ailing Master Minded on his return to action in the Connaught Chase at Cheltenham on November 15, when he finished third to Well Chief and Mahogany Blaze.
In his weekly Saturday column for the newspaper, Nicholls wrote: “I heard back from Rossdales, the vets in Newmarket, where Master Minded had a bone scan on Thursday under the direction of Marcus Head. They have diagnosed a stress fracture of the tenth rib.”
Nicholls adds: “It’s such a relief to have got to the bottom of the problem. He will now spend the next month on the walker and come back into training at the start of January, when we’ll aim to get him ready for the Game Spirit at Newbury.

Much appreciated.
December 1, 2009 at 13:38 #261501I’m sure I won’t be first to have highlighted the irony if Fix The Rib lands the Tingle Creek now…
