So for all those who were slating McCoy less than an hour or so ago, what do you make of the jump of the last? ? ?
Also, how does it differ from the mistake of Denman, apart from the obvious, it un-seated McCoy.
February 13, 2010 at 15:48 #276192What i make of it is that ruby is proven on MM and Mccoy isnt on Denman
February 13, 2010 at 15:49 #276193Ruby’s come clean – his fault!

Ruby has ridden Master Minded many a time, yet still made a mistake today.
McCoy rides Denman for the first time and gets taken to the cleaners.
February 13, 2010 at 15:50 #276196This is a childish topic. No jockey is going to go through a career without a bad jump.
Amazing that Ruby stayed on!

No Ian, it is a thread to distinguish how exactly people can slate McCoy for what happened with Denman earlier, when he was riding him for the first time, yet Ruby has ridden Master Minded many a time, yet is a hero for staying on when he makes a mistake.
February 13, 2010 at 16:02 #276207Good round of jumping from Master Minded apart from the last, I think he is a cert now for the Champion Chase. Thought he was still before the race now i’m even more sure he will win it come march.
February 13, 2010 at 16:10 #276213totally different mistakes, MM put in one too many strides approaching the jump. and ap just didnt ask enough,.
February 13, 2010 at 16:44 #276225RUBY SAID SORRY MY FAULT !! ALL I CAN SAY IS BL**DY WELL SAT MR WALSH !!!
February 13, 2010 at 22:28 #276415Ruby’s come clean – his fault!
Which puts him head and shoulders over AP in this case.
On Ch4 before the Aon there was a bit of chat about how McCoy was riding shorter than Walsh, and how a longer leg could help a jock stay on.. which of course was promptly illustrated!
February 13, 2010 at 22:34 #276419Gaz, i don’t know why but whenever you start a thread I get SQL errors and all sorts of weird stuff happening on my screen!!
I was going to start a different thread but thought i’ll just add my thoughts here and post the question I was going to ask:
How long do you think Master Minded was carrying that rib injury? He looked back to his best exceptional best today..
February 13, 2010 at 22:55 #276431Ruby stayed aboard.
Thats the difference and admitted it was his fault. McCoy should have said i made a mistake asking for a big jump at the 3rd last when the horse was not willing
February 13, 2010 at 22:56 #276433I’ve been wondering about the injury as well. I don’t remember hearing of a horse with a fractured rib before; I mean, I assume they’d have to do something quite noticeable to sustain such an injury. Could he have been kicked by another horse in the summer when out in the paddock?
February 13, 2010 at 22:58 #276436Maybe he just bruised it and it affected him. Like Horses are very fragile. Lieing down in his box he could have down something as easy as being kicked on the gallops.
Paul Nicholls is a incredible trainer for injury recoveries i will admit. It surreal that he has kept Kauto and Denman still going despite their problems from time to time

I spoke to someone with vet connections and they were quite surprised. Not just because he’d fractured a rib, but because the rib he broke was an odd one – one of the "floating" ones, rather than right under the saddle. It’s not one you’d expect to injure in everyday work.
Think it’s been mooted that the culprit is likely to have been Kauto or Denman, as he was turned out with them both during the summer!
February 13, 2010 at 23:08 #276449Ruby’s come clean – his fault!
Yeh thats Ruby! even though it wasn"t his fault! The horse quite clearly puts down on him! Clever thinking by Ruby diffusing the "Doubters" 1001 questions! AP put your hands up and tell us you were on a beaten horse when he fell!
February 13, 2010 at 23:11 #276450I bet Sam Thomas would of gotten farther greater stick if it was him.
