Very good preview article by Todd Marks https://nationalsteeplechase.com/hunt-cup-foxfield-mark-stellar-saturday/If you were underwhelmed by the difficulty of the Grand National this year the Maryland Hunt Cup may be more to your liking. Four miles over 22 large timber fences on “fair hunting country”, same as it’s been for a hundred years. An evenly matched field this year including the returning winner Withoutmoreado and 2021-2022 winner Vintage Vinnie. 7 of the 9 horses have raced in the MHC previously. Of the MHC debutantes the most intriguing is Wagner who was just imported from the UK this season. Wagner would be 2-for-2 over timber if his rider did not direct him to jump the wrong fence while leading in an allowance race last week

15 minutes to post…the live stream is a little janky (it always is) but the race should be a good one
Great race. Vintage Vinnie had a large lead for most of the race and looked like he might repeat his 2021 and 2022 performances but his 15 years caught up with him. Blackhall passed Vinnie over the final fence and battled Shootist and Goodoldtimes in the stretch to win by a head.
Blackhall had two previous Maryland Hunt Cup tries, but this is his first victory over timber. He is one of just three foals by the subfertile Caspar Netscher and the only one to race.
