Any thoughts on this Filly’s racing style ? Should she be given her head ? (she fights so hard at the start of her races. Worked for Hooray), should she be dropped to a stiff 5f ? Jockey change ?
She’s a very talented filly and seems to have just the one burst of speed, so how should she be ridden ? She deserves a big win this season.
I’d be interested in any thoughts …

A strongly-run race over a stiff five furlongs would probably be ideal, but Hayley Turner falling asleep for 4.5 furlongs did her few favours at Ascot.
April 28, 2011 at 20:24 #352614I can see Margot winning one of those big Ascot handicaps. Have you noticed Bell is far more likely to put Hayley on his buzzers lately, AJ?
April 28, 2011 at 20:30 #352617Turner has been an unmitigated disaster on this horse.

She just doesn’t get home over six furlongs. I’ve been waiting seemingly forever for Bell to get it into his head and run her over five.

Sunny Game was heavily backed under Spencer at Epsom last week, but if Turner can get them home in front Bell knows he’s got a few lbs in hand.
If there’s a hint of temperament – a la Strong Vigilance – I wouldn’t want to see Hayley on board.
April 28, 2011 at 22:54 #352633No idea what price she went the other day but I imagine it was 1.something, which she’d done 3 times before without victory. Could just be a bridle horse or an out-an-out 5f horse.
April 29, 2011 at 01:08 #352642Sorry to say but a number of the defeats come down simply to jockey error.
Replace with a proper jockey who is suited to the horse, problem solved.April 29, 2011 at 07:31 #3526508 runs. Always 6f, always Miss Turner.
Funny record, that.Is Mr Bell particularly, how shall I say not meaning to be impolite?, ‘stubborn’, then?
April 29, 2011 at 07:52 #352655Little to do with jockey (Hayley preferrable to JP Spencer in my view and a very good jockey anyhow) or attitude of trainer.
The filly just isn’t very good.

Can’t believe Hayley is getting criticised what do you want her to do pick the horse up and carry it?
April 29, 2011 at 09:11 #352661Next & only entry at present is 6f. Golden Jubilee.

Can you actually imagine riding Margot Did, what a frustrating horse! sitting out the back, she’ll always make you think you’re going to win but never actuall finds when asked.
A half way horse.
April 29, 2011 at 12:00 #352689I strongly believe she’d be worth trying over a stiff 5f. I hope she has the opportunity to prove herself.
I know it’s been said she has just the one burst of speed so give her her head & see what happens (like Hooray), fighting her at the start doesn’t do her any favours whatsover.

Another outstanding effort from Ms Turner.
May 12, 2011 at 18:42 #355131Tried over 5 furlongs today . Same result i.e. awful ride.
Buffeted around early doors and dropped to the rear. Finished well under hands and heels riding.
Change of jockey, or if trainer not willing to do it, then change of stable, if the horse was mine - AuthorPosts
