I don’t think Mahler has the class for the Gold Cup –
the one in March at Cheltenham, I mean,…..
May 9, 2008 at 19:56 #162535When you look at how much Nicholls thinks of the horse that was seventh behind him in the leger, I think he’d love to get hold of an ascot winner, leger second and melbourne cup third, just on the off chance that he could jump a chase fence. When Nicholls went to see godolphin in dubai he apparently looked at ramonti and said, "I could win a triumph hurdle with him".
I dont think Mahler would be unsuited by The ascot Gold Cup, Id say hes as good a chance as yeats, perhaps yeats has the advantage of experience though.
November 26, 2008 at 16:47 #9433I see today the last race at Kempton is called the
"Coolmore N.H. Sires Mahler Conditional Jockeys’ Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (Class 4)"
I followed this horse throughout his three year old season and I read that when completing a peice of work last year he picked up and injury which Aidan O’Brien said would keep him out until next year.
I have looked up on the internet and on the coolmore website but there is no information about his retirement to stud. I always thought he would have got better as he got older and could have been something else if they sent him hurdling (Just a dream) but this must mean he has joined there national hunt stallion roster. Can anybody confirm this??
Thanks
