Luke Morris has received a ban which will rule him out of the AW finals day after the stewards found him guilty of not stopping on Apache Glory.

    Here is the article.

It looks to be a very harsh decision here and I don’t really know why the stewards are going down this controversial route.

The trainer was happy with the way Morris handled the situation. Luke himself gave satisfactory reasoning for what he was doing in the race and I can’t see why we now have the prospect of not being able to see one of the best All weather jockeys on the All weather highlight of the season.

Just watched the race…absolutely ridiculous decision!

Horse wasn’t travelling,Luke gave her a couple of slaps down the neck between 5 and 6 out and got no response so he had a long look down and eased the horse down completely to let it come home in its own time.

Seems strange to say that is cruel to the horse and then ignore some of the absolute beatings you see jockeys giving horses on the AW as a matter of routine.

All weather finals is a farce anyway. You have the likes of Morris, Kirby, Curtis, Martin lane, Cathy Gannon, franny Norton etc working their socks off during the winter everyday and sometimes twice a day on a cold Tuesday morning in December in lingfield for a ride and then heading up to Wolverhampton in the evening for two rides maybe. These are the lads who are the heart and soul of all weather racing yet on finals day they will be sitting watching Doyle, Buick, Dettori, Hanagan, Dobbs, Bentley, after swanning back from Dubai to ride the horses were ridden by the likes of Morris etc all through the winter. No jockey who was in Dubai who rode more than 5 horses out there should be allowed to take part in all weather finals day. Finals day should be a reward for the journeyman jockey who has worked hard during the winter in Britain
