Sadly lost today at Kempton.
December 27, 2009 at 17:51 #265899How terrible, especially at this time of year.
Claimed a few decent scalps during his career.

December 27, 2009 at 22:13 #265957Poor Lodge Lane, it looked to me as though he may have suffered a fatal spine injury when he came down, he landed so awkwardly.
Does anyone know why he still hadn’t been put down when the rest of the runners passed him on the final circuit?
Could it have something to do with his connections deciding what best to do for the horse?
I ask, because it looked as though there weren’t enough screens to cover him fully, and i’d hate to think the decision was given to euthanise him earlier than he actually was.
December 28, 2009 at 07:18 #265997Yes I wondered that too. When watching live I thought the screens were for the jockey and Lodge Lane was standing up by the edge of the fence and it was so brief a look and I thought he must be OK. No mention on the tv as to the outcome so I was quite shocked to find out he had been pts. I saw the reply later – there was just one person holding him and no sign of activity ie the vet. The way he jumped/landed it looked nasty and also think spinal/pelvic injury.
December 31, 2009 at 00:52 #266593This horse will always hold a place in my heart having been the only horse to ever beat Wichita Lineman at the chasing game.
This horse could’ve been one of the best but sadly his jumping let him down too many times.
Sad that thats two promising 3 mile chasers gone in Wichita and Lodge Lane now.
RIP big fella
