And all this “sportswashing” talk is garbage, every country in the world does sports washing ffs, we’ve got the commenweath games on right now ffs where we invite all the countries who’s women we used to rape and land we used to steal over here so we can have a jolly good competition and forget about how we once tried to destroy their culture.
September 1, 2022 at 07:51 #1612981I notice Cameron Smith has now signed up, to no one’s surprise. Then he started complaining about not being able to earn ranking points. Didn’t he realise that when he jumped ship for a $140 million signing on fee?
I might play the world’s smallest violin in sympathy for him later if I cannot think of anything better to do.
September 4, 2022 at 13:27 #1613361Maybe the LIV golfers are using the moaning about ranking points as a tactic in order to try and allow LIV golfers ranking points? I agree it’s stupid signing a contract for all that money and then instantly moaning about the terms of said contract. But surely the majors should let LIV golfers in, the majors are about bringing the best in the world together to find out who’s the best – if the majors themselves can’t adhere to this then they shouldn’t be majors at all and will be just another PGA tour event – if that’s what they want then so be it but the yanks really are putting themselves in a corner on this one and for their own benefit only…..nothing new there I suppose.
September 4, 2022 at 20:39 #1613415I put up J Niemann at 9/1 in my sports bets thread and 1shot lead now hope can win it on the back 9
September 12, 2022 at 14:01 #1614513I notice some of the LIV Golf players took up places in the flagship tournament of a tour they have deliberately tuned their backs on, just to try to earn ranking points to get into the majors. While depriving players who are committed to the tour from playing and earning prize money.
Nice of them.
September 13, 2022 at 09:49 #1614600John Rahm had some words about this issue, note link below…
A classless move by Sergio who disappeared following the 1st round, and guess where he ended up?
The irony of it all ? Sergio’s took a spot which instead could have had gone to a young Spaniard who was the first reserve…

September 13, 2022 at 10:42 #1614604Garcia really is doing his best to trash whatever reputation he has left.
I was at Hoylake in 2014 when he was in contention to win the Open. I would say he was getting even more support from the crowd than McIlroy was. Now I expect most fans would turn their back on him.
What an idiot for throwing away all that good will. Maybe his multi million dollar signing on fee will help him take his mind off it.
September 13, 2022 at 12:30 #1614609He really is making himself look terrible here. As you say, a popular character until recently. I didn’t even mind too much when he beat Rose, who I had punted, in that playoff to win the 2017 Masters as I was pleased to see him finally win a Major.
Play LIV if you want to but leave the existing tours to it. A lot of them wanting their cake and eating it here.
April 6, 2023 at 12:22 #1642524The LIV players have lost their case against the DP World Tour:

Well I never. All friends again. I wonder how they so suddenly and amicably ended this bitter dispute about money? 😉
June 6, 2023 at 19:55 #1650737It sounds like the PGA Tour was only opposed to LIV until it made a large enough offer.
June 6, 2023 at 20:14 #1650739December 7, 2023 at 21:51 #1672992Jon Rahm is said to be about to sign for LIV.
He previously said “I laugh when people rumour me with LIV Golf. I never liked the format. My heart is with the PGA Tour.”
$570 million changed his mind.
