You’re right Maoriventure, I did find that! Clearly I can’t count. still, a good time given her start, and given that Hanagan said afterwards that she used up nothing in winning the race. She’ll be a 6 – 7 f horse in time, and I hope she’s aimed at Albany rather than Queen Mary.

Gatepost runs tomorrow for Mick Channon at York. This filly put in a very exciting performance at Folkestone, picking up late on on very quick ground and it took an absolute age for Spencer to pull her up. I’m surprised she’s joint-top rated given she debuted at Folkestone and I’m a bit annoyed she’s favourite as I was hoping for about 10/1. 5 in this race have raced once and won once and 7 of them won last time out. She’s not a betting prospect at all, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see her win by a few lengths and go onto the Queen Mary as a hot favourite.

Just a shame then Zarkava that ‘she’, as in the filly Gatepost, is actually a ‘he’ and is therefore a colt :D .

Looking for a big run from Hamza to boost the Stonefield Flyer and Lily’s Angel form that I’ve been very impressed with.

God, is he really? Bugger. Well the Norfolk rather than Queen Mary then :D

Well I got the gender wrong but spot on about the quality. This is a very exciting 2yo. Taken off

    his

feet early on but went on really nicely, beating a RPR83 rival by 2 1/2L and a further 2L back to a RPR77 filly.

    He’ll

get a huge RPR for that, but I’m worried about

    his

Ascot aspirations. I’ll wait and see which race

    he’s

aimed at but I’m hoping it’s the Coventry and running twice over 5f would be the exact prep Art Connoisseur put in before winning so impressively.

    He’s

by Footstepsinthesand so wouldn’t have any problems with the step-up in trip.

Yes, good spot (cough, apart from the sex) Zarkava. The horse definitely looks like he needs further than five though so the Coventry could will be his target.

Delighted with Hamza’s run. Everything about Stonefield Flyer’s and Lily’s Angel’s form lines are solid. I’m not saying these two are world beaters, but the former especially (being from a small stable) could be over-priced in some decent races.

I’ll say again what I said at the start of this thread, I’ve never seen a horse run so green on his debut as Stonefield Flyer did for a long long time. I definitely think SF is a better horse than Hamza, and would back him accordingly if they ever met again.

By the way, remind me never to go out on the pull with you :D

    :D :D :D

Quite a messy race but a rather taking performance from GATEPOST who should be Royal Ascot bound after this win, with a race like the Norfolk Stakes, or indeed a step up to six furlongs for the Coventry Stakes, looking ideal. Settled off the pace by Jamie Spencer (but not too far back to get competitive) he made headway before the two furlong pole and was then in a great position to launch a challenge for the lead around the outside. Once hitting the front, he soon quickened nicely away to put the race to bed. He was well-backed on his debut at Folkestone, nicely supported here, and it would appear that (the in-form) Mick Channon knows what he is dealing with here. He seems adaptable with regards to the ground, and jockey

Jamie Spencer believes the step up to six furlongs will see an even better performance.

Just watched Stonefield Flyer’s 3 runs. Extremely green on debut, yes, but my concern would be that he was beaten by Lily’s Angel when he didn’t show any signs of greenness and Miss Work Of Art is supposed to be much better than her.

He breaks extremely well though and that is invaluable in a race like the Norfolk.

GATEPOST had been successful in an ordinary Folkestone maiden on his debut that has since produced a winner, but he did win that race with some authority. Weak in the market, he came together with Rio Grande exiting the stalls, but that may have been a help as he then wasn´t involved in the battle for the early lead. Switched left over a furlong from home, he quickened past his rivals in the manner of a decent horse and may now head for the Coventry.

Mick Channon confirmed on twitter that Gatepost heads to the Coventry. Jamie Spencer tweeted ‘fingers crossed Dr Koukash has one for Ascot’ or something to that effect. 12/1 at Coral. Yes please.

Gatepost given a RPR of 99. Lovely. Have backed at 12s, now into 10s. Going in again I think. Really like this colt. Just have to hope he doesn’t turn up at Epsom.

Another of my list horses, Zain Shamardal, won today at 8/15 having been available at 10/11 in the morning. Didn’t look like he wanted to go past the runner-up and won’t be backing him again in a hurry, but a very nice double on him and Miss Work of Art.

Quadrant runs tomorrow in the 4.55 at Newbury. Forecast 6/1.

Great to see Fahey producibg horses to challenge the big Southern yards. The north needs some flag bearers on the flat and with the exception of Dandy Nichols sprinters we have missed a really powerful challenge. I think RF and Hanagan are the start of big things. Lilys Angel looks a serious horse, to win from that position round Chester was very impressive. If she goes to Beverley a big bet is going to follow her from my pocket.

Stayed on dourly to grab 3rd tonight in the Hilary Needler. A step-up in trip beckons.

Looking through the Stan James market, I can’t really see any of those 8 winning the Queen Mary. Angels Will Fall made a very nice debut but got a fairly low RPR and the runner-up only just got up to win a maiden over 6f next time out at skinny odds (Glee).

I’m phoning Stan James at 9.30am to get a price on Dozy and will be backing. She’ll get a fast pace at Ascot which will suit even more. Spencer is amazing in the Royal Ascot juvenile races. Vocational will get taken on for the lead and there’s surely more to come from Dozy than Vocational with her style of running.

Miss Work of Art won’t run at Ascot Fahey’s said many times.

Well, I was expecting around the 5/1 mark for Dozy when I just spoke to the Stan James traders. I thought, right, she’s beaten Lily’s Angel (12/1), she’s beaten Vocational by 1 1/2L who was beaten by Miss Work of Art (6/1) by the same distance, was heavily backed, has won the Hilary Needler, etc. But I wasn’t offered 5/1 or anything like it.

    14/1!!!!!!!!

3-figure bet on that done. Unbelievable price. Unless I’m being completely stupid I can’t work out why she’s not almost favourite.

That seems generous. I think Miss Work of Art is a bit special, so i see the Hilary Needler as good form. I also believe Vocational was fancied to improve for her run when beaten by MWOA, so think the Beverley form is rock solid. Wouldn’t put anyone off at 14’s, makes me wonder if she’s definately being aimed at the race to be honest.

No future entries for Dozy so bit of a 3 figure gamble. Goodluck.
