I received an email from Ladbrokes this afternoon which read as follows…
“We wish to advise you that we are restructuring our approach to bonuses, concessions, Free Bet refunds and Best Odds Guaranteed.
As a result a number of accounts, including yours, will no longer be eligible for bonuses, concessions, free bet refunds or Best Odds Guaranteed of any kind, effective immediately.
This restriction will be included in all future terms and conditions. All other terms and conditions remain the same and we sincerely look forward to your continued custom at Ladbrokes.
Please note any pending bonuses or concessions attached to your account have also been withdrawn.
Kind regards
The Ladbrokes Team”I thought this must have been some kind of “spoof” email. I contacted Ladbrokes on their Live Chat and after explaining the contents, the response I received was as follows….
“I have reviewed your account and can confirm that regrettably the traders have made the decision to restrict your account.
The reduction in your stake factor is due to a well-meaning attempt to monitor our liabilities for online transactions. This provides a fair opportunity to all customers who bet on the Internet. You are a valued customer and can assure you we do wish to attract customers to our service whether they win or lose. We do though have a responsibility to run the business profitably and therefore we do restrict certain customers and certain bets. These restrictions also affect our promotional offers and regrettably we are unable to override any decision made.
We do regularly review the stake factors on accounts in line with the business patterns of our customers and may look to alter the restriction in the future.
We can also offer you the Telephone Betting number which is 0800 524 524. If you phone your bets in using this number we may be able to accommodate larger stakes. This is because a decision will be made by one of our trading team according to whether the bet suits the book. By contrast, restrictions on the internet are applied across the board”I questioned him further, but was only told that this was a traders decision and they cannot communicate with the traders, so he could not tell me why the decision was made.
Ladbrokes is not my first choice for betting, in fact it’s not in my most used 3, which is Betvictor, Paddy Power and Skybet. I looked over my account for the past 3 months, and overall I could not be said to have made a “killing”
Has anyone else had this email, or similar problems with Ladbrokes. To say that a decision has been made, and at the same time tell you you cannot be told why, and also neither they nor I can communicate with the people that have made the decision! This is a disgraceful way to do business. If it wasn’t for the fact I have a pending bet with them I would have cancelled my account with them at that time, I will do so once my bet has taken place.
My blood is @#*!ing boiling
September 22, 2015 at 18:43 #1208050Their website is a bag of brown spuds, I don’t bet with them unless they have a standout price even then I’d rather walk the five minutes to the local shop as the website takes about the same time to stop ‘running a script’

September 22, 2015 at 18:54 #1208059It’s about time the whole gambling industry had a proper investigation, from not laying advertised odds to a certain amount to online ‘casino’ betting etc.
It seems to be an industry without any kind of regulation and about time someone had a proper look at what goes on.
September 22, 2015 at 19:03 #1208060A few weeks ago bet365 and Paddy Power stopped all the “free bets” to me.
I especially miss the £50.00 one from bet365.
September 22, 2015 at 19:10 #1208061Nathan and Tony, I couldn’t agree with you guys more.
Ladbrokes was frustrating enough trying to get a bet on “in running”, because as you say Nathan they take longer than anyone to load a page, and odds change so quickly with such as golf odds.
Tony, there certainly should be some kind of regulation. When a firm can restrict customers to levels of bets (not being large bets) and have the bare faced cheek to remove such as guaranteed odds, which all the main bookmakers offer, not to mention removing all free bets and concessions (even those you may have had in your account at that time), then something is very wrong.
I don’t know whether there is any mileage in taking this further with Ladbrokes, I did have similar problems with Coral some time ago and no matter what avenue I chose to write to, I got the same response. I thought that Coral was the worst bookie on the face of the planet…..it has competition now.
September 22, 2015 at 19:34 #1208063All aboard the Ladbrokes bashing bandwagon. I can’t stand their website, not just the in play, the whole site is slower than my mother at the wheel.
I just wanted to plop another dose of negative feedback to the thread.
September 22, 2015 at 19:58 #1208065I got blocked by Ladbrokes online after having the temerity to back the 2000 Gimcrack winner at 12/1. Recently, thinking they might be willing to let bygones be bygones, I tried using my old login details and was amazed to find they still worked. I did so because they were best price about a team I wanted to back in the Premier League relegation market.
I deposited some readies with no problem and entered my request for £100 @ 8/1. The response I received said:
Max permitted Stake Exceeded. Max Stake Allowed £0.00
Like the OP, I emailed them, just for a laugh asking why they’d bother to maintain the login and allow me to deposit funds if they weren’t going to accept any bets. I got a similar reply, which said:
Thank you for your e-mail regarding your account.
I am sorry to learn of your frustration in placing bets. We can confirm that you are currently limited on any given event.
This has been applied to your account as a result of some of the business you have placed with us on your accounts.
We can assure you we do wish to attract customers to our service whether they win or lose.
We do though have a responsibility to run the business profitably and therefore we do restrict certain customers and certain bets.
We do regularly review the stake factors on accounts in line with the business patterns of our customers and we may look to alter the factor in the future.
Whilst I appreciate your obvious frustration, the reduction in your stake factor is due to a well-meaning attempt to monitor our liabilities transactions placed across the various markets we offer. This provides a fair opportunity to all our customers who use the various betting channels. May we advise, in an attempt to accommodate your intended stake unit, that you place your bets via our Telephone Betting Service on 080077888 by quoting your username. Please note that we cannot guarantee your bet will be accepted. Our traders periodically review all accounts that have been restricted. Regrettably we are unable to override any decision that has been made
If we can be of any further assistance, please contact us again and we will be more than happy to help you.
I especially like the 4th line, comedy gold.
But why get wound up about it? They’re running a business and are within their rights to act in this manner. Just laugh at them, tell your friends and bet with somebody else. Treat it as a compliment.

Good advice AP.I’ve had similar stuff from bookmakers, accounts closed or restricting BOG and can’t remember the last time I got a “free bet”. Learnt to accept it. Don’t cut off your hand to spite your face BigG; might be glad of any bookmaker account in years to come – even if it is restricted. If complaining, might find your account more severely curtailed.
Value Is EverythingSeptember 22, 2015 at 20:57 #1208070I take your point Ginger, and that of apracing. The thing is, if I had been skinning them alive,
or had large bets where they had large liabilities, I might understand it. In my case I generally
stake in the region of £20 or £20 e/w. Very occasionally £50, but no way could I be seen as a heavy
hitter. JP McManus I am not.As I said in my original post, I generally use Betvictor, PP and Skybet and have never had a problem,
and I do bet a lot more with them. I use Ladbrokes much as I use the other remaining online bookmakers,
which is infrequently. However, as you say, I will move on and happily put my money where it is appreciated. I still think
that Ladbrokes are a joke, but I can live with that.September 22, 2015 at 20:59 #1208071If they are so worried about their business and profits why don’t they sort out their crap website?
Surely they are losing, losing punters by having such a poorly run site.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

Surely they are losing, losing punters by having such a poorly run site.I agree with you Nathan. I think they did make some changes a month or two back, when
it took so long for their front page to load that you could forget getting a quick bet on.
Even with the changes, they are slightly better, but still painfully slow.I had more or less given up on them for “in running” bets, but now I’ve just given up on them.
September 22, 2015 at 21:45 #1208075Just had a look at the website for the 1st time in a while and the pages are loading quicker than the last time but still pauses for longer than ideal.

September 22, 2015 at 22:00 #1208077Nothing to worry about G, I’d go along with AP, and GT, and just laugh it off. They’re rarely top price on anything, and don’t really have that much to offer. Look on the bright side, you get to avoid that bloody website of theirs, second only to Corals (sorry TYF if you’re reading), in the race to be the worst bookmaker website in the land.
September 22, 2015 at 22:05 #1208079Dave Nevison once said something like: “There are professional gamblers on a millionaire’s wage and professional gamblers on a lavatory cleaner’s wage”. I am unfortunately one of the latter, not a “heavy hitter” either BigG.
I was told by an ex-rep of Stan James (who’d closed my account) that reasons why bookmakers restrict is very little to do with being a winning account per se, let alone a massively winning account. He said that if the average price taken beats SP by over 20% then bookmakers restrict in order to stop the punter winning too much in the future. Winning accounts that do not reach this 20% figure are highly likely to be kept, because they’ll probably go back to being losing accounts before long.

Thanks VTC, my blood has cooled a bit now….the rant I had kind of got it out
my system. I’ll happily avoid waiting for it to load and I would laugh my head off
if my pending bet were to come in, I could leave and give them the fingers.
I’m kind of embarrassed to mention the bet, honest I am a 99.9% horsey better, but
I am inflicted, at the behest of Mrs BigG, to watch Strictly come dancing
To ease the pain a little, I stuck a tenner e/w on Katie Derham at 33/1, mostly because
she is paired with Anton Du Beke (I’m showing to much knowledge here for my own good)
She is best priced 12/1 now. Wouldn’t it be nice if I left with the £416 as I waved them
goodbye.I feel if I ever had any credibility on here, it just went out the window
September 23, 2015 at 07:33 #1208121Whatever about racing, surely there’s enough liquidity on the exchange football markets, to never have to go near a conventional bookmaker ever again!

I’m always reading!
Aww say it ain’t so, VTC. I believe we have fixed that awful log out issue now at least. I certainly can’t reproduce it at home, or in the office, or in any browser.
What other bugs do you run into on the Coral site then? What would you like to see added/changed/improved? We have come a long way from the dark days (remember when the site crashed for a WEEK during Cheltenham when everyone wanted to collect on their Sprinter Sacre offer?!)…and we really want to satisfy. Give me a list as long as you like and I’ll raise any constructive* suggestions anyone has.
*we’re talking desktop/mobile/iPad website functionality here. Account closures, trading decisions, FOBTs, marketing strategy and Carly Baker aren’t under my control at all.
