Mickey, I have backed Broome today. A model of consistency, and seems ground versatile as he has very good form on rattling ground. Group 1 winner LTO, he could feasibly still be improving to my eyes, although 5yo. Very happy with 40’s and very hopeful of a good run for my money.

    Broome 3 pts e/w @ 40/1, 1/4 odds 2 places.

Hurricane lane lost both front shoes in the Derby and then comprehensively reversed the form with mojo star at the curragh

For now I’m pretty dubious about the strength of adayars form

Need to see him do it again before believing it

I remember when the KG was the real midseason championship and all the top horses would turn up. Dahlia’s annihilation of her rivals was esp memorable. It’s fallen a bit since, but this seems like a good renewal, even given the small field

There is not much in it on Official Ratings and RPRs, so any justification for odds going from 13/8 to 28/1 could be down to suitability of the distance and the going. But as far as my selection is concerned, it is down to the progress. Earlier in the year Adayar was a very good looking but immature horse. Then he made significant improvement before the Derby, and his acceleration there (twice) was quite eye-catching, as if he had actually learned how to race and had gained mental maturity. From what a few good judges have said about his physique, he has the potential to make more than normal improvement in the middle of his three-year-old season. If so, he could win this going away.

If I’m being honest betting loyalties aside I want Adayar to win this well or at least give the eventual winner a good fight to show that the Derby is still a meaningful race these days

Agree. I will also be cheering Adayar. He’s a great big chap though so I hope the rain comes to take the sting out of the ground as I don’t think he’ll like that. That said, I thought he wouldn’t handle Epsom so shows how much I know. Appleby doesn’t seem bothered.

I hope it doesn’t bucket down or love likely to be pulled. I thought she looked magnificent at ascot but will clearly come on for the run. If the rain misses ascot she will take all the beating. Mishriff will be much fitter than sandown and take him to be second. Be interesting to see who sets the pace as I’m sure Broome will be at the front as will lone eagle most likely. A race to watch and enjoy.

Best field for a number of years. Hopefully a trend starting as it’s one of my fav races in the calendar. Teenoso being my favourite winner as I backed him from the start of his 3 yo career as I was a huge fan of Harry wragg then his son.

Judging the sea of red/blue on oddschecker I’d guess its either raining or its expected to

The radar had heavy showers tomorrow

Just a question how many hit the track

They arent watering and its gd to firm all over so it’d take quite a bit to get into the ground

Love has an alternative entry in the nassau as a back up option

Could be a repeat of Epsom with the weather. I hope it’s not downpours but it looks like a good deal of rain but no certainty.

Unless the ground changes, I see this as all Love, especially with the extra 2 furlongs.

What I really wanted to see was Hurricane Lane in the line up, he deserves to be here and not aimed at the St. Leger. Perhaps he’ll right things in the Arc. He’s a good horse.

Looking at the forecast I’m hoping the rain won’t really hit until after , Adayar for me

Going now good to firm, firm in places. Good news for Love, bad news for Adayar.

There is no excuse for the ground , he,s ran fine on good ground before , personally I think he won the Derby because he was the best horse not because the ground was soft
