Not unexpected but the jockey clubs barmy plans have been “shelved”. There will be some redeveleopment but the course stays and lets hope it will be as successful as Newbury’s
Bitter news for some miserablists in the racing world and on forums of course but those that actually love the game will surely acknowledge that’s its vital course during the wet winter months. And also the best race of the season (IMO) is just that because its run on this circuit
It is my local course so i have a bias and i am a member there. It needs a shot in the arm and will also say that it has some of the friendliest staff around, os pleased for them too
February 6, 2020 at 13:05 #1482145I was pleased to hear this news. I always enjoyed going to Kempton when I lived in London. It might not be glamorous but it does its job well. I only wish it had kept flat racing on turf as well as the AW track.
February 7, 2020 at 18:00 #1482276Glad to hear this news as it made no sense and plus the amount the JC were saying it would generate seemed on the low side if I am honest.
I was sad when the turf course went but I guess they are better able to pay the bills with all the AW racing they now have but losing the course altogether would to me have been a criminal act on the part of the JC who love to spout off about the history/heritage of racing being a major selling point and yet they were seemingly willing to voluntarily sacrifice Kempton with all its history to build another AW course.
