I’ve bet Kikkuli for The Queen Anne, which is my preference for betting him, but I’ve also had an extra wager on him in this at 33-1

June 19, 2025 at 23:50 #1733959I think Annaf has a bit more going for him here than the price suggests, and I’m hopeful of a decent run for my money at the odds

June 21, 2025 at 14:06 #1734296Of the French horses:
Not surprised Lazzat has been uneasy in the market having not run on good-firm, let alone a possible firm. It has put me off – along with a bit of an awkward action. But it’s not quite that cut and dried. Second to Lake Forest in Australia’s Golden Eagle on “Good”. Some were put off last year’s Australian King Charles winner because he’d never run with “firm” in the title. But I believe Australia does not call their ground “good-firm” or “firm”… And Lake Forest prefers it on the firmish side. Probably wasn’t Lazzat’s very best form, but it wasn’t bad.
Before the week started I’d have thought of all the French runners Topgear was the one most likely inconvenienced by firm ground. I seem to remember connections saying he needs some give after he’d won at Newmarket. Surprised he’s been well backed this morning.

Pricewise selection.
June 21, 2025 at 14:40 #1734310Flora Of Bermuda is a horse I believe will do well this season, but maybe not on today’s going.
Storm Boy has come from AUS to AOB, has some good form but ran an awful race on reappearance. Most in the yard have come on a good deal for a run. But he was 9th of 9, beaten 5 1/2 lengths. A positive market move would be interesting – but it’s been negative.
Sajir is another French horse who might want it softer.
Amongst the leading players that leaves the Japanese horse and Inisherin. I’ve backed the latter ante-post with now a saver on the former. With a couple of bets on outsiders:
Inisherin’s ownermate Elite Status. Have to excuse his reappearance, but loves this ground and looked capable of Group 1 form last – with an SP of only 11/2 when disappointing in the Haydock Sprint. Has been in form in the summer as a two (Norfolk 3rd) and three (Hackwood). 30 is imo worth taking a chance.
Great Generation has appealed to me as having plenty of speed at 7f. Gave weight to all her rivals for a pb in the Group 3 at Lingfield. Never wins by far – is best dropped out the back – so is difficult to know just how much she has in hand. imo Best on a firmish surface. They’ll need to go a strong pace but if effective over this stiff 6f a bit more improvement would see her involved. 50 available right now!
Value Is EverythingJune 21, 2025 at 15:25 #1734330Another very small bet race, but elite status e/w at 28/1 & sajir e/w @28/1
For absolutely no reason whatsoever
June 21, 2025 at 15:38 #1734332Great Generation for me at 40-1 each way
