Can’t get my head round how easily the bookies have got away with not paying out on Josies Orders winning the cross country March 2016. Many of us have backed a WINNER and not been paid out?
Example 1. Most bookies pay out both horses as a winner if a horse loses the race in the stewards room.
Example 2. Simple Verse and Bondi Beach – Everyone got paid out.Genuine question guys… what’s the difference?
February 13, 2017 at 20:15 #1287277Where did you back it?
As a punter I agree with you but I don’t think they’re required to, it’s done more as a gesture of good will although there’ll be different small print for each company.
I got paid out but I only had a fiver win and double with Ivanovich Gorbatov (in my local bookie).
Also, it shouldn’t matter but the Leger attracts non racing fans and Cheltenham not so much, so the bookies are happy to rub people up the wrong way at Cheltenham knowing they’ll come back for more but if they didn’t pay out in the Leger there’d be lots of people never coming back.
Hope you get it sorted but don’t hold your breath.
February 13, 2017 at 20:17 #1287278I’ve brought it up a couple of times on here.
If the horse got awarded the race and the prize money, why should punters lose out…?Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
February 13, 2017 at 20:32 #1287284I done it on bet365, I had a single on it on the day and I actually had it in a treble with Thistlecrack and Don Cossack at decent antepost prices. You’d have thought they would have at worst made Josies Orders selections void. Im sure there is many other people in a similar position but I still cant get my head round it. If one bookmakers pays out, they all should regardless of whatever the returns are, IT WON hahaha.
Silly though isn’t it Nathan, bookies win enough money and this just got brushed under the carpet. Be interesting to get Matt Chapman’s take on it on ‘On The Line’
February 13, 2017 at 20:39 #1287288I was there on the day and bet there so that “winning ticket” will be recycled fish and chip paper now….
Also had a few Ante Post bets on-line, think also bet365, not a lot a few quid but still, better in my pocketGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
February 14, 2017 at 13:27 #1287369I got paid out…………on Any Currency
Mind you I have had it work the opposite way in the past.February 14, 2017 at 13:35 #1287374Can’t get my head round how easily the bookies have got away with not paying out on Josies Orders winning the cross country March 2016. Many of us have backed a WINNER and not been paid out?

The difference was that the amended result and subsequent appeal (or intention of) was known within one hour of the race finish. I would have thought most would still have had their betting slips at this time, if backing in the bookies. The Any Currency saga wasn’t known until weeks if not months after the race finish. How many would still have had their slips from this race?

Yeah that’s very true but most punters these days bet online so like myself their betslip will always be there. (Settled Bets).
February 15, 2017 at 09:43 #1287483Can see where you are coming from Henry mate, but it has gone now.
Will be impossible to settle as you can’t sort it out for the online bettors and then swerve it for anyone on a betting slip.
Listen there is no point crying over spilt milk, get your head on the game and focus on winning it back and then some in this years festival
