I feel a little bit gutted looking back on today again checking the results via Betfair.
The good news – April Fool won at 50/1. Started 82.63 via the BSP function for anyone using that.
The bad news – Noble Greek ran 2nd at 50/1. Started at a near identical 82.61 on Betfair, traded odds on in running.
The way I work it out is that I’m temporarily in profit at standard SP. And I could have been for 50 more losers if Noble Greek won.

CARYS´S LAD
PRINCE MASSINII wish Noddies Way wasn’t there.
Ran well in the Derby though imo. Thrown in off that run.
October 13, 2010 at 15:31 #322210Another winner.
At just 8/1 as well.
Prince Massini’s had the greatest turnaround known in the history of horse racing. Stomach ulcers and a breathing problem are the reasons put forward by Mr E Williams.

ASPECTUSOctober 13, 2010 at 23:46 #322287I think anyone who reads my posts knowns I’m no fan of my friends at BHA towers. And this one shall be no different.
So far I’ve found, or more like Phil Smith and co have provided, this thread four winners.

GRAND STITCH
wasn’t worthy of an enquiry into the remarkable improvement in form. But, then again, why should the horse be? Phil felt losing by 25l was worthy of a 5lb drop in the handicap.

The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner
SARAH PARK
(IRE), ridden by Neil Callan and trained by B J Meehan, compared with its previous run at Ascot on 26th September 2010 over one mile, where it finished unplaced, beaten nineteen lengths. But having received a report of the trainer’s explanation that the mare needed the run at Ascot, which was her first for over two months having had a break from racing to recover from splints, they decided not to hold an enquiry. The Stewards ordered
SARAH PARK
(IRE) to be routine tested.
Fortunately
SARAH PARK
was considered to be worthy of a mention on the BHA site. (BHA towers – please make your steward reports like RVL. Thanks) But why?
SARAH PARK
was dropped the correct amount for running up to marks of 72, 54 and 57 having been rated 92 on the 16th July 2010.

The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner
APRIL FOOL
, ridden by Tom McLaughlin, and trained by R.A. HARRIS, compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 2nd October where it finished 10th beaten 44 lengths, but having received a report of the trainer’s explanation that the gelding was better suited by being able to dominate the race today, they decided not to hold an enquiry. The Stewards ordered
APRIL FOOL
to be routine tested.
I will make some time today to actually review
APRIL FOOL’s
performances. I don’t know many of these horses any-more, so maybe it is a reasonable explanation. But, again, if the stewards even consider this remarkable turnaround in-form worthy of discussion, why do the BHA allow their own handicapping team to drop a horse 3lb for a 44l defeat.
What difference can 3lb actually make unless the horse does such a thing like this?
I await the stewards small quote about not holding an enquiry into
Prince Massini’s
significant turnaround having noted the trainers’ explanation.

Good to see my friends at BHA towers are busy with important things, though.
October 14, 2010 at 10:23 #322325The Stewards considered the running of the winner KING’S REALM (IRE), ridden by SEB SANDERS and trained by Sir Mark Prescott, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer’s representative, Miss Alison West, who stated that the horse was suited by the longer distance of today’s race, having never previously raced beyond ten furlongs, and had improved in fitness from its latest run, which was its first for over eleven months. They forwarded her comments to the British Horseracing Authority so that the performance of KING’S REALM (IRE) in his earlier races could be reviewed. The Stewards ordered KING’S REALM (IRE) to be routine tested.
Oh they get better and better. Is it not about time some of this lot were cleared out?
If there’s an issue with King’s Realm being beat 21, 14 and 12.5l in maidens, why was the horse given a rating so soon? The form of the 3rd maiden doesn’t look all that bad looking at it briefly.
What did the stewards, handicappers and the rest at BHA towers expect from this horse yesterday? THEY rated it 62 – it probably ran close to that. So was it meant to be beat 20l again and end up on 52 before winning? Because that is what ends up happening….
October 14, 2010 at 15:17 #322371won at 12/1 running from 1lb outside of the handicap, but 15lb below what the horse was before it produced some more "unrateable" form.

MAGIC CAT
October 17, 2010 at 18:26 #322987I wish I was backing these now because I’m not.
Magic Cat
won at highest early odds of 22/1 with bookmakers and the same SP, a 50.99 Betfair SP. A lovely class drop having been a listed winner in the past.
Final Rhapsody
won at 14/1 from the earliest odds, 20/1 SP and was 34.53 with Betfair SP.

October 18, 2010 at 13:05 #323093The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner,
FINAL RHAPSODY
, ridden by Stevie Donohoe, and trained by W.J. Musson, compared with its previous run at Yarmouth on September 16th, where it finished 9th of 11, beaten around 20 lengths but having received a report that the trainer was unable to offer any explanation and in the absence of any other relevant information they decided not to hold an enquiry. The Stewards ordered
FINAL RHAPSODY
to be routine tested.
Don’t worry about the improvement. The horse was given a fair, honest 4lb drop. The jockey even put up 1lb overweight!!!!!
