Plenty of his horses don’t appear to be getting home – are they simply not fit enough?
November 3, 2009 at 19:34 #256957i have long steered clear of this so called top stable quite often ap’s choice of rides are questionable at least, must be some retainer. i would lay any fancied runners all day and avoid like the plague. i work on stables in form there is no such thing with this stable good luck to you who believe jp.
November 3, 2009 at 20:29 #256969Jonjo was not even at Exeter today in fact very few people from the stable were
November 3, 2009 at 21:10 #256977I think it is just a question of fitness.
The stable’s summer horses largely continue to hold their form – Tarvini for example.

Isn’t AP’s retainer with JP McManus who has a lot of horses with Jonjo?
November 3, 2009 at 23:59 #257005Yes and I believe it’s around 300k per year

As someone said to me the other day:
If JP’s is so rich that he can afford hundreds of horses why does he have so many bad ones?
On JJO : not a good stable and never says anything worthwhile when interviewed – have a look at the stable tour on the Post site (very enlightening )
November 4, 2009 at 20:34 #257107I am not sure what his current stats are but October has been his best for two of the last three seasons and second best last year. Shouldnt be out of form now should he?
November 4, 2009 at 22:13 #257135If his horses are struggling because of fitness I can only think it could be the same reason Messrs King, Nicholls and Henderson have struggled for winners so far.
The weather has been so good in the West that they have been unable to gallop/school horses on the grass as its too quick.
I think this has been put down for a reason why some of the bigger yards have been struggling for winners.
Jonjo does ok when the ammunition allows. It just seems that a lot of JPs good ones now are sent elsewhere be it Henderson, Meade or remain with original trainer ie Karabak.
November 4, 2009 at 22:15 #257136Did JP start spreading his horses around with other trainers when there seemed to be a virus at Jonjo’s the other year?
November 5, 2009 at 13:41 #257238JP has always had his horses with a variety of trainers I think (correct me if I’m wrong), he is a great man for keeping a small trainer going
