A fascinating Grade 1 today at Punchestown sees the Gold cup Bridesmaid ‘Djakadam’ 5/4fav bid to emulate last years emphatic victory which incredibly was his only victory of the season, this years renewal looks tougher.I see ‘Sub Lieutenant’ trades as the 3/1 2nd fav and yet in my world should be 4th in the betting,I can see ‘Outlander’ reversing their previous race form today as he’s a horse I rate…Not as highly as I rate Black Hercules,my Cheltenham 2016 banker of the meeting, admittedly I thought initially he was the 4m banker, then the RSA banker but in the end it was Danny Mullins who suggested at Warwick that 21/2m would suit..TAPK snaffled the 75’s on the machine and the rest is history..Today we set out on that same journey to Cheltenham again, this year though there can only be 2 possible targets for this Black beauty the Ryanair 7/1 or the Gold cup 33/1.I have had to back him for both for obvious reasons at 10/1 and 33/1 e/w of course and today will hopefully give us some idea of where we’re heading. The problem of course lies with his Trainer and because he suffers from verbal Diarrhoea we’re none the wiser as to who goes where.I like to think like the owner, not so much ‘Rich Ricci’ who incredibly wipes the chin of Willie Mullins every time his bowels open but Graham Wylie a man who knows his horses.Graham would love to win the Cheltenham Gold cup,his horses are geared for Cheltenham,’On his Own’ ran in it as a 12yo such is his ambition. The Wylies have a Gold cup horse in ‘Black Hercules’ and thats where I want to see him end up.In the meantime I have supported my fav horse in training for today with a £100 e/w bet at 9/2,1/4 odds a place 1st 2 is a free bet in my world…Come on you Black Beauty.

You got a good bet there APK,

    ratings
    djakadam, sub lieutenant, outlander

Djakadam was my fancy for Gold Cup last year and but for tricky connections would have shaped a bit better in my view. He will be looking towards a better show this time I think so wont be 100% today. He may not need to be. Although top rated thats not the be all and end all. On another method BH is bang there in second favourite position. A win today for D will enhance his future prospects and BH coming second or even winning if D not fully tuned(he should be right by now we are 3 months in) BH is the 1 to fill in the pieces. I cant back D but I cant go agin him either. You got the perfect bet there for that horse in this race.

ZARK he should be odds on shouldnt he? Maybe Ruby is there because he will do as he is told. BH is getting battered as the stable second string, just cos mullins wins it every year dont mean it will be the fav.

Luckily everyone sees things different or there wouldnt be a market. Good Luck whatever you decide. I know i can can get a better 6/4 shot than that, I dont have to Bet.

Good point Zark!…The Herc has crash landed today after a bitterly dissapointing run and the only good thing to come out of the race is he’ll drift like a barge for Cheltenham.

Thought it was a fantastic performance today from Djakadam on his first run of the season…….you’d think Mullins will really only have him fully tuned for Paddy’s day next year B-) ……considering he will turn 8 in just over 2 weeks I really think this will be the year to be on him…….at 8/1 he seems like a great ew bet to nothing at the minute……can’t see him goin :mail:

TAPK,never short on confidence is taking the Black Herc out again for a spin,we’re on a short take off today and up against the beast called ‘Douvan’.Makes you laugh how Willie Mullins campaigns his horses but if my horse were to beat ‘The Beast’ over what seriously looks like a trip way too short and a gallop that could cause a fall but ‘hey ho’ Graeme Wylie must realise that too….He’ll go and make all now and win at 14/1 but at least I’ve had a score on just to see what the hell is going to happen…Oh and took the 190’s for the Champion Chase!!..Its why I’m a legend..
