    SATURDAY 19th MAY

That Frankel thing is back, hes supposed to be good right

If they all turn up, then it looks to be a cracking race.
You got the mighty Frankel, new o’brien inmate Excelebration, Globe trotting superstar So you think, and hannons Strong suit.

I think this is the time to take Frankel on, and I can’t believe So you think is 9/1. He is easily the second best horse in the race and although he has been a little dissapointing, he has been competing in the best races across the world.

Im not convinced Excelebration is world class yet but he is definitely improving and has bucket loads of potential.

Dont think strong suit is up to it tbh.

Its So You Think for me, thats if he turns up but prob just playin for place money against that Frankel thing:)

    Any thoughts?????

I will eat my hat if So You Think gets within one length of Frankel. Unless Excelebration has suddenly found rocket boosters over winter no one is going to get within lengths of this boy.

I’m sorry this ‘Frankel’ chap doesn’t ring any bells to me :P

So You Think is a spent force for me. The thing for me is that he had his best years down under, joined Ballydoyle as he was on the way down, and the drop back to a mile won’t do him any favours. He’ll be a horse in decline this year in my opinion.

Excelebration on the other hand WOULD BE the world’s top miler were it not for this ‘Frankel’ chap and will definitely place.

Strong Suit, though a very decent miler(ish), is simply not in the same class and will not see them any closer than when they’re in the stalls.

Go back to the QEII for your forecast, it’s quite simple.

i would have thought the majority of this forum thinks "no horse" can get within a length of frankel, let alone SYT lol!

still, time will tell. SYT sure has the speed, and it will be nice to see the hannon runner clash with them as well.

if frankel fails to fire, IF, id put my money on SYT, not the other two.

in a way im both gutted and happy, because i have frankel, SYT and excelebration in my ten to follow, and if the latter of the field meet frankel every time, im not going to get many points am i!

    cheers,

so you think has always struck me as being somewhat overhyped, although it is clear that the obrien team is on fire at the moment, a positive sign for this one and excelebration.

i’d be amazed if he had the pace to beat frankel on decent ground give he’s more of a 10 furlong type anyway, although if it stays heavy we could even see the fav withdrawn, i’m not sure what the forecast is, but if it comes up a bog then I would agree that so you think at 9s seems very reasonable.

But if the ground does dry out then this race is all about the brilliant frankel. he looked absolutely breathtaking in his gallop the other day, and its his ability to instantly accelerate breaks other horses hearts and sets him apart from the rest.

I think Excelebration is an exceptional horse and I expect him to see off So You Think comfortably.

I do have trouble analyzing why he ran so poorly at Royal Ascot, he got a pretty bad check but should have done better regardless for mine. Marco Botti did say that he’s improved after the SJPStakes and that the horse just didn’t find his rhythm in that race so maybe I should forget about that.

    I’ll be lumping on either

    A). Frankel to win
    B). Excelebration to Place

Depending on which is a higher price.

Been watching Excelebration’s races without Frankel last year, and I’m like what a truely brillant racehorse. Won all of his races last season when he didn’t race Frankel last season in really tremendous. He’s got to be one of the unluckiest horse out there, but this could well be the best chance he has of beating the freak, given the latter’s recent setback, even though Frankel’s gallop at Newmarket suggests that it’s not much to worry about. Frankel to win for me, but I reckon Excelebration will make him run for it.

Kind of concerned the way Sir HRAC’s horses have been going this season. Witht the exception of Noble Mission and Chachamaidee (today) they seem to be struggling.

World Domination and Timepiece who are both probably amongst his big guns have been very dissapointing.

    :(

Don’t worry yourself, Frankel’s a beast! He could be trained by Mark Johnston and he’d still pick up the treasures and accolades………

I don’t believe that SYT will be running in the Locking. At least not as the first string. He may get a warm up there but Excelebration will be the first string ie Joseph’s mount.

Agree totally about Excelebration being a very good horse

The first time Frankel beat him I thought he was very impressive and thought he might even be a serious challenger to him later in the season but then Frankel went Super Nova and that was that.

As far as making Frankel sweat a bit I can’t really see it. Frankel is bound to have much less nonsense in his head at 4 which hopefully means he’ll be much more relaxed and take a lot less out of himself. If he is more relaxed he could well be nigh on unbeatable and it could be we ain’t seen nothing yet.

The question will be whether Ballydoyle can get Frankel out of his comfort zone. Was impressed with how Excelebration won the race within metres at the Curragh recently, so if they can keep him within touch of Frankel in the last furlong they have a chance. The other option they have is to try get Frankel either to race Windsor Palace in the hope he tires.

Excelebration was in touch approaching the final furlong in the Greenham and the QEII and was blown away in both events.
I also think that it would be pretty pointless to set a very fast pace with WP as these are the very tactics that the Frankel connections have tried on a number of occasions and it also looks like they will run Bullet Train on Saturday.

Unless Excelebration has improved to become the next Brigadier Gerard or Tudor Minstrel, it would appear they are hoping on Frankel being significantly below his best, which judging by the racecouse gallop I seen last week doesn’t seem to be the case.

    Frankel/Excellebration forecast, obviously.

The most interesting thing would be the role of the pacemakers in this.

Sir Henry Cecil is very bullish. Confidence at Warren Place is sky high that Frankel will again do the business.
