To be locked up for the ride he’s just given
even money shot Beauchamp Viking in the
4:35 at Towcester.Absolutely useless.
Anyone see it? Clearly travelling easily the best 2 out and
should have picked up eventual winner Ruby Isabel.May 31, 2010 at 16:15 #297781AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
Its always hard to swallow when horses dont find anything under pressure but I would have to say Jimmy did nothing wrong, he was quite clearly right to hold on for as long as he could before asking a serious question as when he did the horse found nothing and if anything the horse in front (whom himself looked tired) actually was going away at the line.
Clearly a horse who finds nothing for pressure, combine that with Towcester and its not a good result.
The jockey did nothing wrong, the horse just isnt very good. Flat track next time might win

Nah, that was a bad ride. Put McCoy on that horse it would have won. Sorry.
May 31, 2010 at 16:30 #297789Johnson rode a cracker and the Loose Horse was all important as it kept his horse for something to run at.
I wouldn’t be pleased with the ride on the fav if my cash was on

Horses just didn’t find anything under pressure off an increased weight from last time.
This horses has basically been pulled up in all 6 hurdle starts and 1 of his chases. He manages to win a terrible race at Towcester and ends up an odds on shot??? Bookmakers dream.
Horses just isn’t very good

I agree the horse isn’t very good but it wasn’t given a good ride, it should have won, the jockey could have taken Johnsons horse two out and kicked on, as I said before, McCoy would have won on it.

How could it of taken the lead horse over two out????
When Jimmy did use the whip and ask his mount to quicken he didn’t quicken whatsoever so why would he of quickened two out if asked???
When he did challenge the RJ horse he couldn’g go by, or even come close to, so why would the result of been different had the front two battled earlier?

the horse clearly didn’t react to the whip, therefore, they were almost level two out, get your head down and ride it more vigourously without the whip.
Kick on.

Exactly. Somewhere among Beauchamp Viking’s weight rise, the cumulative effect of two mistakes he made halfway through the race (later than the one he made when winning over C&D previously), plus Ruby Isabel’s lower chasing mark than most of those she’s had to race off over hurdles, lie the real reason(s) for the Burrough gelding’s defeat today, rather than any lack of enterprise on Jimmy Derham’s part.

Matthew’s done his money on another short-price favourite and can’t accept it, hence it must have been a bad ride.
