R.I.P
I was on at 25/1 but who gives a sh.t – I feel sorry for Ricou. :(
March 9, 2004 at 23:15 #81368A real shame. I saw him run three times at Newbury, Ascot and Cheltenham and he was always impressive. Comiserations to connections and all involved.
March 9, 2004 at 23:20 #81369I’ll miss seeing him run at Cheltenham as will thousands of others, I hate it when we lose horses.
R.I.P – Jair Du CochetMarch 9, 2004 at 23:23 #81370R.I.P. Jair du Cochet. A very nice horse indeed.
March 10, 2004 at 01:34 #81371Saddened to read on the Racing Post website that some twisted individual(s) layed Jair Du Cochet at 999-1 after news of his death had come through.
No scruples whatsoever!
March 10, 2004 at 21:46 #81372It’s a tragedy losing a horse at the best of times, but just before the Gold Cup couldn’t be worse. I remember being at Ascot on Ladies Day a few years back when a horse fell. The screens went up and stayed up for about ten minutes. You could have heard a pin drop during all that time, and when the horse finally walked out unscathed, it got the biggest cheer of the day! I cried! It really is all about the horse.
March 10, 2004 at 22:08 #81373
Just as an afterthought, I remember in the past when Jair Du Cochet was going to be sold a couple of times but he failed the vet on both occasions, so was that because of worries about his leg(s)/general physique or a totally different problem?????
March 10, 2004 at 22:10 #81374Horrible news, he will be missed.
Paul – I think it was because he was thought to have a tendency to break blood vessels.
March 10, 2004 at 22:28 #81375
Cheers Kifill
