Hello all, just a word to the wise I was contacted by a J wilson claiming to be a work rider in Newmarket and he text me a free tip which actually won yesterday. He phoned today saying for a cost of £99 he will give me up to 30 tips over the next three months. The £99 will give me a code which I have to enter when ringing up but to send the payment either by cheque or Postal Order?? Alarm bells rang so I looked on line and there was several messages about a similar scam in 2011. So to all beware this man he is obvioulsy back under a new name J Wilson rather than K Wilson but still the same scam and at a cheap enough price to drag you in.
Good luck to all

June 5, 2013 at 10:13 #441870I think I had this guy phone me a few times some years ago. He claimed he was an ex work rider but he sounded like he was a bit fat for that with his wheezing and un-jockeylike voice. The first time he went by the name of Ken but about a year later he was going under the name Keith.
The pattern of the tips was always the same, a horse running in an eight runner handicap where the fav was about 3/1 or better. I was told to take an early price as the horse was sure to be gambled.
The first horse I got drifted from 5/1 out to 10/1 and finished third. I smelled BS right there. When they did tip me a winner I didn’t back it but got a phone call offering to sell me more tips (can’t remember the cost) and when I said no thanks, the guy gave me a pile of abuse. Sometime later I got a call from the guy who was a partner of Keith, Ken, Kevin or whoever he was now, and who used to phone with the horse the night before the race. He had a very distinctive voice and the patter was always the same. When I tackled him about the abuse I had gotten he point blank lied that he had ever called me before. I made sure he knew I wasn’t interested in their nonsense and they have never called again.
I reckon they pick an eight runner handicap and if they have eight hundred targets, they split the runners evenly so that they are guaranteed to tip a winner to 100 people. They then follow up on the ones they tipped the winner to and try to sell them more tips.
Like all of these tips, if their information is so hot, why aren’t they putting money on it and clearing up? Maybe they are the Gambling Angels sent from heaven to help poor people get out of debt by bashing the bookies:-

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
