Don’t understand why they never show Ayr bronze cup day it’s a pretty good card and can tag in some from Newbury.
The more I know the less I understand.
Newbury on the Friday was televised by the BBC back in the day – the Haynes, Hanson and Clark Stakes (I’d recommend that younger readers look up its history) was always a highlight.
Pity that the “impartial” national broadcaster has shelved racing coverage in favour of more “popular” sports.
As well as Newbury on the Friday being on the BBC, Ayr on the Thursday & Friday used to be on C4. The Ayr Gold Cup used to be run on the Friday until the early 90’s when it was shunted on to the Saturday like many other big races.
Many years ago ITV used to cover all four days of the Western Meeting.
