Yes I also noticed Tanya in yesterday’s credits and alas she’s as bad as always, sometimes appearing on Racing UK and now apparently one of tbe regular hosts on Racing Post Greyhound TV. I’m amazed how this talentless woman is so apparently popular.
April 22, 2018 at 21:22 #1351614“if she wasn’t……………attractive looking”
She isn’t, although some people may think so.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.

As they say, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

April 23, 2018 at 11:55 #1351642Why, why, why do we have to hear people at the toy table talking about the horses and how they look? why can’t they show them to us the viewers instead? I really dislike the way Francesca Cumani is in the paddock blocking the view of the horses and just showing a couple or so. There were no views of the runners for the two classic trials at Newbury on Saturday either, it is important to see how horses have progressed over the winter and which ones are going to improve over the season.
Would be much better if ITV did a voice-over on a side shot of the horse in the parade ring, rather than the generally uniformative head-on shots we get now, presumably because Francesa Cumani’s face has to be shown to viewers as well.
RUK are the best of a bad lot in parade ring coverage, but even their shots can too often be far away, people obstructed, too low, or too hurried, to be of much satisfaction.
April 24, 2018 at 07:54 #1351732I agree with every word of that, Cav.
Coverage of horses in the paddock has gone downhill since the early days of coverage by the BBC. A fixed camera position and a chance to the horses one at a time from side on.
These days we must have personalities and talking heads.
I’m getting too old to enjoy sports coverage on television these days.

I certainly agree re Alan Howes, he’s very much been underrated and it’s good to see he is getting more and more high profile calls.
He’s also really nice, unassuming, guy with no ego whatsoever.
April 26, 2018 at 21:35 #1352101I’m with Crepello, show us all the damn horses before the race. I could understand it if there are a few meets being covered, but even 30 minutes between races and they can only afford about 30 seconds in the parade ring.
You tune in nice and early for some very interesting upcoming 3yo race(or any race) hoping to learn soomething, but you only get a glimpse of 2 or 3 horses they deem worthy of showing us, alongside some utter dribble spoken like the horse had his ears pricked when he did a crap last week or the rider is the hardest working jockey in the weighing room.
May 6, 2018 at 09:43 #1353212Francesca did a good job at scaring the horses and the punters yesterday buzzing around the pre parade and the paddock dressed as a giant size wasp…
what was that all about?
Was she auditioning for Marvel as Hornet Woman?.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 6, 2018 at 10:15 #1353215Awful wasn’t it? Looked woolly too so she must have been sweating like a hog!
May 6, 2018 at 10:29 #1353219Miss the channel 4 days when Jim Mcgrath and John Francome talked about each horse as they were circling.
May 7, 2018 at 22:37 #1353416@Tonge…

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 8, 2018 at 08:58 #1353443Absolutely Triptych. Maybe the producer had a word – or perhaps she follows this forum!
May 8, 2018 at 11:52 #1353452I did wonder that when she made reference to Taxmeifyoucan been out of Accounting which I mentioned on this forum a bit ago. Had she done her own research or did she nick mine
May 12, 2018 at 15:54 #1353768I know that it’s an Irish thing but Sally Ann Grassick repeatedly saying “in (insert racecourse name here)”, instead of “at” is really irritating.
May 13, 2018 at 22:30 #1353883Some good news for ITV.
Their coverage of the National has won the BAFTA for best sports broadcast.
Now if only they could change their camera angle at the Chair.

Nice though it was to watch horses parading on 625-lines analog TV, it was well said that for formulating an opinion on condition and well-being ‘it might as well be a Disney cartoon’
So, now that we have HD TV, one would have thought that paddock footage would be an ideal use for this splendid technology
May 18, 2018 at 23:54 #1354269I have to congratulate ITV for showing their first ever evening racing next Thursday which is the Brigadier Gerard meeting at Sandown Park. This something that Channel 4 never did.
