Middle of summer and a full day of stumbling bumbling blundering mince.
God bless America.
July 10, 2010 at 18:57 #305874Can’t beat it with a big stick. Off to Southwell tomorrow, I am, with a smile a foot wide!

July 10, 2010 at 19:06 #305876Hmmm, it’s the British Grand Prix, the World Cup final & three jumps meetings (all on At The Races)
Anyone who thinks I’m leaving the house tomorrow can think on, I’ll be busy!
July 10, 2010 at 19:14 #305877It’s rather strange race-planning admittedly but I’ve been looking forward to it for a while now, more so now the final decs have revealed a plethora of enticing single-figure fields for the chases
Summer Jumps sits snugly on Sundays and in my opinion should be confined to that day and perhaps a couple of pre-determined weekday evenings. The programme as it stands seems far too random
July 10, 2010 at 19:20 #305878I have to agree its bizarre having three jumps fixtures in the middle of the flat season. If there was some important fixture in France or Ireland that might explain it but as far as I’m aware there aren’t any.
Even though I’m a jumps fan I don’t believe there’s a reason to have summer jumping, and that the prize money etc should be used to increase the paltry amounts on offer during the autumn and winter.

I suggest you organise a trip to Perth before your next post, one of the friendliest and prettiest courses in all of The UK not to mention the stunning scenery to be found en route, which ever direction one approaches the course from.

Don’t forget Sligo mate. That’s four NH meetings on ATR tomorrow. Can’t bloody wait… it’s like the eve of Cheltenham all over again
July 10, 2010 at 19:50 #305886I don`t understand the reasoning in confining a type of racing to a certain day. Summer jumps on Sundays don`t appeal to me.Thursday or Friday I might attend about three per campaign.
July 10, 2010 at 21:29 #305892With all the rain we’ve had in Ireland this week it feels more like winter than summer. I don’t have a problem with summer jumps once the ground is safe, but then again I’d rather watch a small field selling chase than a flat race anyday.
July 11, 2010 at 07:25 #305914What’s America got to do with it??
July 11, 2010 at 08:45 #305921There are 2 possible reasons there is no UK flat racing today.
1. No courses bid for a fixture today
2. It may have been built into the calendar so that everyone got a rest.Either way I don’t care, I’m off to Perth and really looking forward to it.
July 11, 2010 at 14:14 #305962It’s a Racing for Change initiative.
Next year, the Cheltenham Gold Cup meeting will be held in August with Royal Ascot, hosting all the Classics plus the Champion Stakes, switched to February.
July 11, 2010 at 14:42 #305965Brilliant Summer jumps, roll on Peter Bowen, the master.Really looking forward to MR next Saturday

Was looking forward to having a few fun bets at these NH meeting but no racing for me today…..well at least not on Betfair….can’t get any of the UK or cards to come up , but the European ones are ok……everything looks normal except the horse racing in the UK…when I click on a race to bring the card up I get a blank page with AVILABLE on the top left hand corner….anyone else having problems?
July 11, 2010 at 16:23 #305975I had no problem Fist, thankfully as a couple of Bowens went in again.
July 12, 2010 at 15:32 #3060921. No courses bid for a fixture today
Nail, head. Perth, Stratford and Southwell bid for today, and either no Flat course did or else was outbid. Can’t bemoan the lack of Flat activity if none was meaningfully offered.
Either way I don’t care, I’m off to Perth and really looking forward to it.
And I’m sure it was another corking day’s fare at Scone Palace. A huge crowd, glorious weather and wins for the burgeoning talents that are Adam Wedge and John Mathias made the Southwell fixture an unalloyed delight, too.
