Was watching a programme the other night that made me think of Drone ( it was the sort of programme that he watches too) and I realised that I don’t see him posting these days. I have a vague memory of him saying he’d lost interest in racing ( at least I think that’s what he said). Anyways, if you see this Drone, hope you’re ok.

To put an optimistic spin on this, I seem to recall Drone last posting not that long ago.

Plus let’s not forget Drone possesses all of the quality Chezza lacks.

    With Drone, less is more.

    With Chezza, more is less.

I’m hoping Drone will return in due course – if and when it suits him to do so.

Drones last post was 19/11/22 10:11 on the World Cup thread
he can often go a few months maybe even longer without posting.
Was it a gardening programme, Moe??

No. I’ve been watching Villages by the Sea and one programme was about Norfolk and it reminded me of a programme that Jonathan Meades did in which he was talking and this boat sailed by somewhere above his head. Which made me wonder if Jonathan Meades was ok ( used to love his programmes albeit never understanding what he was talking about) which then led me to thinking about Drone who also used to watch Meades programmes. Except that he did understand what he was talking about.

Blow me. I turned a programme on about Christmas dinners. And there was Jonathan Meades. Not the sort of programme I’d expect to see him on. The downside was though that it was a really old programme ( eg Jamie Oliver was still living at home with his mum) and half of the people on it are now no longer with us.

Thank you for your concern and kind words Sweet Lady Moe and Co.

My physical health is robust and mental health satisfactory: all this fortunate lad could wish for, or anyone really

As the king of the search function Nathaniel points out I haven’t been quiet for long, just a month or so; and infact haven’t been away at all, as I surf this site regularly but haven’t logged-in, having not had the urge to post anything

I maintain a passing interest in racing though haven’t troubled the layers for years. Steeplechases continue to entertain and on a recent ‘do’ in Leamington Spa was hoping to take in Warwick races which featured three chases over their splendid fences. Just rather a shame that one of their signature 0-90ish 3m5f events for the seriously slow wasn’t carded. Anyway the card was frozen off so I had a wander around the town. There’s a statue of the famous boxer Randolph Turpin in the market square

Jonathan Meades must be in his mid-70s by now and I recall reading somewhere that he’ll not be doing any more TV programmes. I suspect he’s not in rude health himself, having had heart surgery a few years ago; and I get the impression he is/was possibly a rather too keen gastronome and oenophile. I believe he now lives in a flat within a brutalist block in Marseilles

His entire catalogue of programmes are available here:

    Seasonable greetings to all

He does – the Unite D’habitation, designed by Le Corbusier.

Drone has this perpetual aura of eternal indestructiblity – Chezza was never that worried, tbh.

It’s anything in his path you need to be concerned for.

    Amble not ramble Nat

Should our paths cross I’d proffer both you and covid a hearty ‘good morning’ on the understanding that you reciprocate similarly and then eff off and leave me to my musings

Demand nothing of anyone other than common courtesy and a smile :good:

Drone is clearly the Chuck Norris of TRF and is fast gaining parallel legendary status.

Where others “ramble,” Drone only needs to “amble.”

Covid-19 went into lockdown rather than risk facing Drone.

And Nathan sensibly fled in the opposite direction upon hearing a rumour Drone had “ambled” into an adjacent postal district.

Saunter or drift, not amble Nat

If I’m permitted to be first at the oche and you’re buying the splosh and nosh then I’d seriously consider gracing you with my presence

140, once, is my best three-darter, which was a most pleasant change from the regulation 26 or random chucks ‘downstairs’

The PDC World Championship is held soon isn’t it? Not having Sky Sports I’ve normally got my annual fix from the second-rate BDO equivalent held early in the new year on terrestrial TV, but have a suspicion the BDO has gone bust. Is that so?

Is Ushers brewery in Trowbridge still bubbling away? Their Best Bitter was a nice drop and if memory serves the Castle Hotel in Taunton had it. 30+ years ago admittedly

My consumption of black pudding is these days restricted to the ‘all you can eat’ breakfasts provided by my hotel chain of choice, Premier Inn

The PDC darts has been going for about a week. It restarts on the 27th and goes on until the 3rd.

The BDO has indeed fallen by the wayside, there is a replacement ‘World Championship’ but I don’t think it’s broadcast on terrestrial. ITV4 carries some of the less prestigious PDC tournaments throughout the year which as far as I know is the only terrestrial darts coverage left.

I used to be alright at darts. My solitary 180 is up there with the hat trick I scored for my primary school football team in my finest sporting achievements just above my high break of 35.

Many decent ales and of course ciders to be found here in the Westcountry. It’s good for someone like me who drinks all sorts depending on my mood.
