The extra 2 furlongs of a gold cup will suit delta work and presenting percy well

Percy travelled very well today but looked a bit slow

He could probably stay the national trip

Another race ruined by the course’s watering policy. Five horses within a length at the final fence including a 100/1 and a 50/1 shot tells me that they went a rather moderate gallop through the entire race.

The runner-up made too many mistakes and Presenting Percy needs everything to fall right for him. Somehow I doubt the the Gold Cup winner will come out of this race, though the winner clearly is a much improved sort who is suited by faster ground and by the course (Cheltenham).

Delta Work should be favourite for the GC now. How quickly things change. Everyone was knocking the RSA form after his run at Down Royal and Santini’s underwhelming reappearance at Sandown. Now it might be the key piece of form. Nicholls must be so frustrated that Topofthegame got injured.

DW may need some dig though. Depends on weather.

He won 2 grade 1 novice chases on good ground

    Seems fairly versatile groundwise
