I think it was old Sir Walter Scott who wrote,
Oh what a tangled web we weave,
When first we practise to deceive.
How did you know that? Did he sit beside you in class?
May 8, 2009 at 21:50 #226413Caledon, your kind words are much appreciated. It’s not often I’ve been referred to as a dick and a duck on the same thread. It warms the cockles of my heart.
You suggest that I have "spoilt things" but it doesn’t take a mathematician to work out that this is the typical defense mechanism of an emotionally immature personality. Blame anyone but yourself, Cal.
I imagine it’s always been this way, Cal. You strive for perfection and then when things go wrong you find it too painful to believe that you, and you alone, are the instigator of your own sadness.
However, my compassion does not reach out to you. I now realise that you don’t have the capacity to enjoy normal relations with people. That would be far too unfamiliar territory for you. Is it any wonder that you’re probably known on most forums as ‘Cally No Mates’?
Long ago I learnt that, despite my hopes and ambitions for certain people to live a normal life, there are certain individuals who will live out their existences oblivious to the joy of human kindness and generosity of spirit.

In a home I should think!
Blimey, what a thread – we don’t get them like this any more! Although Dolus did mention the guy who came on here saying that racing was run by magic numbers that only the bookmakers had access to. I did actually argue with him for a bit before seeing the error of my ways…

Great stuff indeed
Is Alan Ridley the chap you’re referring to?
