Sorry, lack of research.
Byword is likely to run in the Prix Jacques Le Marois, which is also in mid-August.
August 1, 2010 at 16:15 #310422edit: belay that.
According to PA/Grimthorpe Byword will be running here as well as Twice Over, so Harbinger is guaranteed some decent opposition if he turns up.
August 1, 2010 at 21:56 #310485Rip Blanco should be turning up, Gloria de Campeao is out.
August 3, 2010 at 12:59 #310724Would love to see Rip finally running over 10f again (disregard the breeders cup run), last years Eclipse run, and subsequent form was very impressive indeed.
August 3, 2010 at 13:01 #310726Will be laying Harbinger
August 3, 2010 at 13:16 #310733Backing Rip if Rip runs.
If not that lay Harbinger at the 1/2 price he be
August 8, 2010 at 06:25 #311643Regretfully Harbinger is out.
August 9, 2010 at 12:51 #311848Thankfully was on Rip at 3’s a week ago
August 9, 2010 at 13:34 #311859Hasn’t won yet.
August 9, 2010 at 15:10 #311864I find it extremely hard to see Rip getting beaten here. Twice Over and Byword are closely matched on Prince of Wales form, and I’ve never been able to get the thrashing New Approach gave to Twice Over out of my head. Neither is a superstar. Rip ran the best race of his career imo over 10f in last season’s Eclipse. 6/4, should be 4/6, shouldn’t it?!
August 9, 2010 at 15:21 #311866Pretty much thm
I’ve laid Harbi ( ) and backed Jakkalberry e/w at 33s…could easily place imo
August 9, 2010 at 17:16 #311887You are absolutely right based on last year’s form.
August 9, 2010 at 17:33 #311889For clarity you(The Horsesmouth)are absolutely right.Based on last years form!
August 9, 2010 at 17:59 #311894I know what your thinking Andydod, and you are correct: Rip hasn’t produced that level of form yet this season.
However, even a reproduction of his defeat to Canford Cliffs will see him in the shake up and if Aidan O’Brien is to be believed, there’s more to come from Rip this year.
August 10, 2010 at 02:35 #311947We shall see what we shall see. I listened to Aidan before last year’s BC and you would think rvw was home and hosed. He always expects more.Whatever happened to the birdchaser,Steinbeck? What happened to JanVermeer? What happened to Fencing Master?Beethoven,SNA where did he go?He was unbeatable if you believe Aidan. They gave him a month off the week after the Derby; when will we see him again. These things bother me.As the man said about the State of Denmark….and it was not the pastry

I’m sticking with my original selection of Twice Over for this (now wishing I had bet him at 9/1). Rip Van Winkle at his best would laugh at Twice Over of old but Rip (bad feet) is becoming a dodgy horse to follow and Twice Over has improved.
Bywords defeat of Twice Over came at a time when our Hernry would be thinking Eclipse and the chances are he wasn’t quite fully tuned up at Meydan….anyway back on good old English soil the home advantage could be a big plus.
I’m hoping for another Henry Cecil day.
August 10, 2010 at 09:03 #311973They were talking him up before the Dubai World Cup were they not?!
Is there a small chance that ‘Twice Over’ is better going right handed?
Forgot to say – (he defo loves the straight track & HQ)One win @ 4/6f from his eight wins in total going the other way & three defeats…
