The International Stakes is always a tremendous race – I first attended it in 1980 – and I’d say the duo among the confirmed entries with the best chance of winning it stand their ground, so it’s still going to be a cracker.

Its certainly an intriguing race regardless of the lack of runners – all are in one way or another quite capable of winning the race but it may come down to which jockey gets the tactics right (or less wrong) on the day.

The bear will outdo the field for toe so somebody will need to kick on early or Ryan will set fractions that will suit Paddington. Can only see hollie being brave enough.

William Hill Epic odds are going 1/1 on Ryan Moore to ride at least one winner on day 1
I think he rides Paddington.. £10 max I’m guessing but even so

    An interesting stat:

The only five 3yo colts to win the Juddmonte International in the last 20 years (Japan, Roaring Lion, Australia, Sea The Stars, Authorized) had all finished in the first three in the Derby.

If you’re a fan of Paddington, bear that in mind!

I still don’t know how good Paddington really is. Every second time he runs, he beats Charyn by about four lengths. Now, is that the form that makes him the superstar we should think he is or has he just won “softer” G1 races? Charyn, by the way is zero from six this season.

At 16/1 I might have s small EW bet on The Foxes, but otherwise it is a race to watch rather than bet on an 8/13 shot.

Nashwa is my selection here- admittedly she hasn’t much to tuck in behind and if she sees the wide open spaces she might just take off but if she can settle at all she has a chance.
I took a bit of the 100s available for the Arc too.

I’d be very much against Paddington here if it wasn’t for the small field and lack of front / prominent runners against him. Will he get an easy lead?

I’d hope hollie goes forward with nashwa

I think a slow pace would make paddington very hard to beat if he runs to form

And will inconvenience mostshdaf who will likely be held up last

mostshdaf looks the main danger to Paddington given all of the experience held.
The one (2) thing that will see the superstar get beat is the lack of cover, a false pace. Thirdly a lot of racing but I’ve heard little from Ballydoyle to say otherwise.
Owners and trainers please stop moaning about prize money and lack of opportunities. Time and time again these great races are undersubscribed. If I owned a racehorse and it was qualified, I’d enter them in these races and take the prize money on offer and enjoy the day out.
Paddington to weather the storm and lack of pace and win. But no suprise to see him turned over today.

Over this trip held up. She may not get home front running imo.

Finally….. He’s only won soft G1 races. The hype will soon disappear

Plus: I f****n told you: beating Charyn by 4 lengths every time makes you no superstar

That was great to see Frankie do it right this time.
Great ride on (at least before last time out) a somewhat difficult horse.
