Good post Ian,
One small thing I would say though in your sentence:“But sometimes, over some things, I just KNOW – because I’ve seen and profited from the same pattern of outcomes time and time again for 40 plus years and still do to this day”.
True enough for the most part, but with one caveat. Have found over the years some things that have brought me profit for nearly 40 years (because they’ve been underestimated by the market) have become less profitable or even loss making because they’re now in the public mind (no longer underestimated).
Listening to public broadcasting makes it easier for me to notice things that have now come into the public mind.

Noticing the average odds getting shorter so silently abandoning a former strategy is less painful on the eardrums and the senses!

right choice as he’s a better miler imo although he gets beat again if Weld’s horse runsCharles Darwin to conquer the World
August 29, 2023 at 14:09 #166148210F on likely soft ground at Ascot I think would be a stretch for him stamina wise – so 8F on similar ground seems the most prudent options.
It will be interesting to see who else actually turns up on the day….I really think Nashwa should be dropped back to run in it especially as I think softer condition clearly won’t suit Inspiral and Chaldean could be interesting too of a long break and Weld actually has two fillies entered (Homeless Songs being the other).
Ground may well decide how deep (or not) the field will be.
